Oddly enough, of the dozens of guns I own, not a single one of them has ever even been pointed at another human.

They must be defective, like mine. They keep telling us the only purpose of a gun is to kill, but mine haven't caused so much as a scratch. (I take that back...my AK got me good once when I had to clear a dud round).

The US is so far down the list when it comes to murder rate that it's hardly worthy of discussion. The whole "gun" meme is just so much horse shit. Murder is murder and dead is dead. Making a distinction as to how a person was murdered is an act of trying to pick the fly shit out of the pepper.

Read 'The Samurai, the Mountie and the Cowboy" by David Kopel. It takes a look at gun control in other countries and asks how well it works there and how it might port over to the US.

jamaica is one of the countries analyzed. It has a near complete ban on gun importation, zero domestic manufacturing and harsh punishments for anyone caught with a gun, more so if in the commission of a crime. It also has one of the highest murder rates in the world.
