US Intelligence Officials:
Our Warnings To Europe About Russian Hacking Were Too Late

“By the time we made the call, Russian hackers had already breached their systems, too."

US intelligence officials told BuzzFeed News that earlier this year US intelligence agencies sent warnings to the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Czech Republic and Lithuania, about Russian hackers trying to meddle in their upcoming elections.

The Washington Post investigated the matter.

Those familiar with the classified evidence say there is even more convincing information that has not been released. President Obama has ordered a review of the influence operation, the results of which will be released before he steps down on Jan. 20, 2017.

Russia is trying to influence elections all over the world, in order to have people in office that are favorable to Russia.

Considering past behaviour of Russia, it is not pretty to see how the sausage is made.

Vladimir Putin Reportedly Personally Involved in Orchestrating Hack and Release of Emails

The growing consensus—which squares with the optics of the 2016 race where one candidate was repeatedly and bizarrely complimentary of Vladimir Putin—is that Russia stirred the American electoral pot in order to help Donald Trump to the White House

September of 2015 that the FBI first reached out to the DNC to alert an I.T. contractor who worked there that there appeared to be someone operating within their system, and that operator was perhaps linked to Russian hackers.

And it wasn’t until October of 2016, so more than a year later, that the administration and the intelligence agencies formally issued a statement attributing that cyber-attack to the Russian actors. And so that’s quite a long time. And it was — many, many months passed between when the FBI first essentially called the DNC and the time in which the DNC in fact confirmed that the hackers were present. That didn’t take place until late April.

John Podesta said Sunday in his first interview since Election Day that he has only heard once from the FBI about the hack into his emails — and that was in early October.

“The first time I was contacted by the FBI was two days after WikiLeaks started dropping my emails,” Podesta said on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

The Wikileaks dump of Podesta’s campaign emails started Oct. 7 — the same day a 2005 tape leaked of Donald Trump making vulgar sexual boasts behind the scenes of “Access Hollywood.”
