Yes, 'tis true.  www.cosmiverse.com/news/science/science04290201.html

Holland has got it right also. Our HIV rate among young men is 3 times Holland's, our teen births are 11 times higher and our Gonorrhea rate is 74 times Holland's!! Europe's rates are also much lower than the US rates.

Abstinence-only "education" is ignorance-only. Our children deserve better, and 75% of Americans want their children to learn the facts, and not be held hostage to Xian fundamentalism.

There is no public school that teaches 'abstinence' as the only proscription for the avoidance of STD's or pregnancy.

Private school STD and pregnancy rates are one tenth that of the public schools. I do not claim that that is because they teach abstinence.

What I do claim is that they teach, and enforce, self discipline. The emphasis is on acedemic excellence, not 'feel good' bull shit.

The inner city schools, which heavily drive the statistics you are refering to, are a travesty. This is not because of money, it's because the better teachers are transfered to the suburbs (or more precisely, the people in the suburbs won't put up with bad teachers, so the less qualified teachers are transfered to the inner city schools.) If you believe that giving someone that isn't doing the job more money will instantly make them more qualified, then you're a fool.

I don't mind teachers making more money. But it should be on the merit system and the tenure system has to be done away with. If you can't cut the mustard, you better find a new job.

It has nothing to do with 'sex education' and everything to do with education in general. Look at the difference in the product turned out by the Dutch schools as compared to ours.
