What does having H have to do with needing help? Sometimes I wonder if you think before answering threads AS.

Can't you just not answer instead of saying crap like this? I'm really disappointed in you....more and more you're emulating the unmentionable and it's not making me like you.

I agree that there are beginners that need help. I've spent the past few weeks working with some myself.

The H's don't mean they can't use help. Having stories out, though, just made the decision for me to stick with the ones that are trying to get their first story out there.

I thought that AS was harsh in his judgement and I called him on it; doesn't mean I hate him or anyone else for that matter. I'm not afraid to speak my mind and that's just what I did.

I understand preferring to work with "new" writers instead of already established ones, but still, I maintain that every writer asking for help should be encouraged to do so, not berate because he/she have stories with H.

You're right. When I said I agreed with him I didn't state it well enough. I think in a later post I tried to say it better.


Reading the initial post again reminded me it was also the idea of a series that stopped me right now. Between my own writing and a current illness, my time is limited. Having H's had nothing to do with my decision to offer help.

Yes, luckily enough people liked the idea enough for voting to rise to an H.

My problem however is that since I wrote the story I never see the dumb errors when I try to check it before submitting.

While trying to rectify this I've been advised to seek help here.

While I do agree that new writers may need help its also true that slightly experienced writers also need a bit of help to avoid making a mess of what could be good.

You guys seem to have figured that out quite nicely by yourselves though

Precisely. No one can see their own habitual mistakes (and we all have them) or even the stray typo here and there. Always good to have at least a backup reader to cut down on the clutter.

I'm swamped and am not attracted to the topic you identify--but hope you can find some help.

It might be easiest to look around in the room where your stories dwell, pick out someone whose writing you like, and try to strike up a "you scratch mine and I'll scratch yours" deal.
