Urband legend in my town

There is an urban legend in my town about a desolate abandoned parking lot that's supposed to be a homosexual hangout where gay cops, firemen, and truckers meet to exchange phone numbers.

There was this nice hillside garden near where I used to live. Out in the open, overlooking a river.
I used to walk through it all the time on my travels but then a taxi driver told me "that's where the gays go".
Turns out that at night it's full of gay male prostitutes and the sort of men that like gay prostitutes.
Didn't walk down there after dark again once I found that out.

Why? Not like they would have been interested in raping you or something. Probably safer than most places after dark for a girl anyways.

I've got no problem with what they were doing and certainly wasn't worried about being raped.
I just didn't want to walk through an all male orgy on my way to the pub.

Are you planning to check out the verity of these claims yourself, Mike? In the spirit of scientific - ahem - rigour?

No, I'm not gay, it's just a always been a myth/legend in my town and it's never been proven/disproven.

We used to have a public house in my town called Queen's Hotel.

Even before gay sex was legal in the UK, that's where gay men used to meet. Although it hadn't been a 'hotel' in the real sense for decades, rooms could be hired by the hour.

It closed down about twenty years ago but there is always one public house favoured by the LGBT community. Sometimes they move from one public house to another, usually after a change of pub management, but everyone knows their current favourite establishment.
