I'm watching friends, and they just showed the part where Pheobee said, "It's not my baby, it's my brother's" and they removed the part where she said 'it's my brother's" and went straight to her laughing.

How odd...

Wasn't that the point of the joke?

Yes it was! And it was hardly the raciest joke of the episode! this is friends we are talking about here! and they where in a strip club!

I have to lie down now. I've overdosed on exclamation points!!!

PS Hasn't anybody missed me?

And the lovely AV.

But are we all right to associate with again? I understood you had misgivings about us and were going to pursue romance as opposed to pornography.

I was sad to see you go, because you are such a humane person, with such a capacity for sympathy and forgiveness. You have seldom uttered a cynical word here, and you defend people from injustices without reflection or stint, from the heart. We were poorer for your departure.

And we're kinda happy to have you back.

I've missed you, but couldn't say much about it til now (don't bother w/PMs as your box is always full). I agree with Cant's comments about you, so am very very glad to see you.

Perdita

Quite right too

Friends should be censored out of existence. The inanity of this show is part of the real dumbing down of society and people should watch Shakespeare as God intended them to.

Counting down to the big 500...

(ahh, shit!!! Then I have to wait another 500 for my next big triumph :( )

Bravo, Snooper!

Perdita :)

(Sorry, S&P, I know it's your thread but I could not help my giddiness. P. )

Awwww p...

but but but.... marcel the monkey was SO cute!!!!!!! :D

Dorm, the only characters I ever liked were Phoebe's brother and his wife. I heard Giovanni Ribisi was playing the brother so I watched the show a few times. Otherwise, it did not interest nor amuse me. P.

Sweet! Honey, baby!

It's good to have you back!!!

:D

(Sorry, I know I shouldn't over-do it.)

Sincerely, I have missed you. Next time you go off on walkabout, make sure you leave us notice of when you'll be back.

Lou :rose:

P.S. Friends: piffle! :p

Welcome back.

Have you seen the UK uncensored version of Absolutely Fabulous?

I recently saw a programme of out-takes from Ab-Fab late at night. They made the distributed show look tame.

Eyup Sweet. Nice to see your back(side) again. And you too of course.

I've always felt that "Friends" and "Seinfeld" were just mediocre television versions of "Annie Hall", dumbed-down for American mass consumption. Many of the bits, as well as the over-all modern urban neurotic milieu was shamelessly lifted from Woody Allen movies. Larry David even appeared in a few of Allen's movies.

The Marshall McLuhan (you know nothing of my work) scene in "Annie Hall" is obviously the basis for several episodes of those two shows.

Q., super observation; I'd never given those shows enough thought to come up with that. P.

edited to add: I always thought those two shows did a disservice to Manhattan.

I agree. They also do a disservice to those seeking to move to Manhattan, who expect to find buildings on the upper west side and in the east village where the under-employed, the unemployed, mail men and waitresses can afford to live in 1500 sq ft apartments along side successful stand-up comedians and publishing industry execs.

Actually it's more correct to say that scene was the template for both series--Seinfeld especially.

(quoting myself--my narcissism has reached a new high)

I understand that Shakespear regularly pandered to the lowest common denominator of his audience and filled his plays with sexual jokes and puns that are largley lost on todays audience.

In a few hundred years or so, I can just see highschoolers studying Friends scripts with absolute boredom, lol.
