Well, I should have known it was getting full, since I was running out of places to hide my cookies. But I've been so hungry recently that I didn't really need all that space. :nana:

I agree with you shy, but everyone take my advice....

DO NOT DOUCHE UNLESS YOU HAVE A REAL MEDICAL REASON TO DO SO.

Thank you for that.

I now plan to have it tattooed just above the hairline, just in case that during an emergency, I forget.

Ok, not that I do, but curiosity is killing me.

Why not? And what brought this up?

From what I understand douching throws off the pH balance of the vagina, which can lead to infections.

As far as what brought it about...I think it's because of the "clean out your box" reference. :)

I gotta get ready for work. But, shy said that a clean box is a healthy one. I went a step farther and said that about douching.

Douching is like using antibacterial stuff in your home. There is such a thing as being too clean. When you're too clean you kill off the "good" bacteria as well as the bad stuff. The good bacteria keeps the bad stuff in check, but now you've killed off everything and the bad stuff mutates into antibiotic resistant strains, (hence the outbreaks of MRSA in hospitals and nursing homes.)

Douching does very much the same thing. We all have natural flora in our mucous membranes. You douch too much and you rid yourself of that natural flora... not to mention you dry out the membranes. Not something most of us want to do. The natural flora we have in our vaginas, keep things like yeast infections from growing. (why some of us have yeast infections when we take certain antibiotics.)

Did I bore you to death? Hope not.

Have a great night and no body move so I can find you all when I get back here. k? ;-)

No you're not boring me. You forget, I was a CNA and if my health had permitted it I'd have become a nurse, I find this sort of thing fascinating. It's why I asked.

To prove it I just did a search for Submissive Thought of the Day. I put all posts, I did a very broad search. What'd I get? Nauda.

Hi grace

I know the search function is or can be dificult to use. As I read many replies it dawns on me that many might not know how to use the search function properly. To that end, I would like to use your example and offer the below post to help you in your use of the search function to find what you want.

In fact I hav plans after this to start a thread for the sole purpose of answering questions or providing assistance to those who want to learn how to use the search function to get what they want.

I took your above phrase...Submissive Thought of the Day and did a search, below are the step by step explaination of what I did and the result of what I got. I hope that through this example it will help you to find what you are looking for.

Apologies in advance if the pics make this screen scroll side to side for some because of size....I know some hate that.

Step one:
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y266/eqoaseveredamage/searchadvance.gif
Select search and when small window appears click "advance search"

Step two:
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y266/eqoaseveredamage/searchbynumbers.gif
I have placed numbers by each important selection and provide a small description below.

1. This is the field where you put in key words that you wish to search for. When doing this, you need to decide if the words are in the title of the thread or just in a post listed on a thread.

2. There are two choices:
- Search Entire Posts - If you are looking for some post someone may have made tosome thread, or you are not sure if the words you are searching for is in the title of the thread, this is the option you would use.
- Search Titles Only - If you know for a fact what the title of a thread is or part of a title of a thread, Like you did here with "Submissive Thought of the Day", this is the option you would use. Be advised that if you misspell the words or if the original poster mispelled a keyword(which happens a lot) you might not find what your looking for.

3. This option sets the time in which you want to do a search. Set this to Yesterday and Older. This will result in doing a search of the database for all posts or threads which have a date listed from yesterday and earlier. If you have it set as yesterday and "Newer" It will look for thread with the keywords that have been made since yesterday. Since its a good bet that no new threads have been made since yesterday with the key words your looking for, it will produce no matches found. Using the above setting of yesterday and "older" will make sure you are searching from yesterday and back and I recommend you use this setting.

4. All this setting does is sort the results of what is found. I reccomend you use the setting I have provided in my example, or you can experiement with this by doing two searches exactly the same only change this and see how it changes the sorting order of the same search results.

5. Two choices here
- Show results as "Threads" - If you know you are searching for a title of a thread, use this option.
- Show results as "Posts" - If you know you are searching for a post someone has made, then use this choice. Beaware in using this you will have alot of posts to search through and can be tedius. For this reason it is always best to search for the title of a thread for a post you are looking for "IF" remember that post to be somewhere in that thread.

*note: if you select "Posts" but what you are really looking for is in the title...then chances are you will not recognize the results in the form you are looking for.

6. Very important. You need to select which part of Lit you want to search. If you know that the thread or post you are looking for is in the BDSM "TALK" section, click on it to highlight it. If you know it is in the Cafe then click on BDSM "Cafe". If you are unsure if the thread is in the TALK or the CAFE, then select "TALK" and see #7 Below.

7. By checking this box, it will search through the sub section of each main section you have selected. For example, since BDSM cafe is a sub section of BDSM talk, if you select BDSM talk and then click this box, it will also search all child forums of BDSM Talk...which means it will search the cafe as well.

Below is the result I got searching for Submissive Thought of the Day with the above settings. I encourage you to try it and see if it works for you grace. I also hope this helps in understanding some fo the setting used in the search

function.http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y266/eqoaseveredamage/searchresults2.gifif[/IMG]

Chances are, if you know for a fact that the thread exists but you get no results...check the following to ensure they are set correctly as chances are they are not and that is why it is giving you no search results.

- Check to see if you spelled the words you are search with correctly
- Check to make sure you are searching for a title if that is what you want or for a post if that is what you want
- Check the time period you are searching for. If in doubt use the setting I gave in the example of "Yesterday and "Older"
- Make sure you have selected the right section to search and the sub section search box is checked as well.

Please let me know if do the search with the settings I gave and didn't get the results I did.

At the risk of imflaming whatever it was that set you off, I searched and found it on the second try. If you want to know how, just ask.

Ok, I looked carefully, and I did all that.

You did a search with the exact same settings as I show in the numbered picture above? and what happened?

Tips for the search function ............

Always go straight to Advanced Search

Even if your aware of key words in the title switch the settings to 'search entire posts'.

Change settings also to show results by posts.

I agree the Search Function can be frustrating however now I accept that there are certain limitations with the program and the above simple steps often get me the result I had desired its quite satisfactory .

My one and only official searchy hint. I'm one of the people for whom the search function rarely works correctly. I've had better luck associating a person with a topic and using their profile to search. For example... I want to see threads on electricity, which is one of DVS's things. So I click on a thread he's posted in, click on his name to get his profile, and choose either "find all posts by this user" if I want a generic list or if I want a specific thread that I'm pretty sure he started, I'd pick the other option which shows me all of his threads. This also works with finding a thread where I know who started it but not where it is. (This happens a lot with me.) Like if wanted to find the Apocalyse/Epiphany thread. I can't recall the exact name, and the search function only works about half the time for me. But I know that AA started it. So I skip the search function, click on his name, get his profile and then choose the "show all threads" option. I get better results this way.

I do that a lot. I'm better at remembering who made a post than remembering where I saw it or what the post was called.

Nods you and Snowy are both correct and is more times than not the way I find things since i remember who said it.

I plan a simple little step by step for the other thread on using this...and I was going to include Snowy's alternative way as well by clciking on a person's name. Ty both for pointing this out.
