I swear we had a book thread but I can't find it.

Anyway, any books coming out that you're looking forward to?
Me, its the Anita Blake comic books. Yup, they're doing Guilty Pleasures.

Can't wait!

I feel like such a dork. When you said 'Anita Blake' I was thinking that was the author.

I didn't know that they'd put Laurell K Hamilton's book in comic book format. Now I'm REALLY covetous. I've only recently started reading her stuff, but I'm hooked.

I'm seriously coveting the new Christine Feehan book, Dangerous Tides . It doesnt' come out till the end of June, though. *sigh*

Hmmmmm, I've not read any of that particular series of hers but I adore her Dark series.

What I am seriously coveting right now however is the release of "Kushiel's Scion" by Jacqueline Carey. I love her "Kushiel" novels! June can't get here soon enough.

Well when I was in BFE, South Carolina (no offense Evil Geoff), I was going through books like candy, cause I was BORED out of my mind. So I read Micah, which was so totally awesome that since then I've read two other Laurel K Hamilton books. By the end of may I figure i'll have read at least all the Anita Blake books. I also want to read the rest of the books about the fairy chick.

As for C. Feehan's books, I haven't read anyting of hers I haven't liked. Of course I got hooked via the dark books, but they're all good. To tell the truth I can't think of anything of hers I haven't read, yet. :D

Hi!

Had to delurk here to say I love these authors! I just started rereading Laurell Hamilton, and it's amazing to watch Anita Blake evolve. She starts off as such a prude, and now she has a harem. Envious sigh.

Has anyone read any Sherrilyn Kenyon? Her Dark Hunter series is worth a read.

I'm almost finished with her series. I just read Zarack's story, and I cried most of the way through it. Especially during the dreams.

edited to add: I LOVE SIMI. She's just sooo funny, and sweet.

I've read most of her Dark Hunter series out of order but I do love them! Zarek was probably favorite and like Grace I ADORE the Simi!!! She is just too cute.

I've not read any of the Anita Blake books but I do love her Merry (the fairy chick) books. Dark and delicious. I gotta say thought I hope it's Doyle that knocks her up cause she's gonna need someone strong for a King if/when she takes the throne.

I don't usually read "graphic novels." For Anita Blake stories I would certainly break that rule, as I have for Buffy and a few others! Cool!

I just found out about Micah today, in part because of your post, so thank you! It's now on hold for me at the library! I'm sooo excited!

The fairy princess series has grown on me a great deal!

Oh my! The Sex & Intimacy section crowd! Part of my responsibility at the store.

Lots of new and hot erotica! I'll do a search for new stuff coming tomorrow.

Sherrilyn Kenyon

She also writes under the name Kinley MacGregor

None of those books look like any I've read. I think either she is on my "read soon" list or I may have read a book with three "Bad boy" short stories in it and she wrote ONE of those. I'm just guessing here.

Thanks for the link beautiful Graceanne!

Time for a bit of comic geekdom..

Diamond distributors will be carrying the book in question.. Which means you can look into the phone book, find a local comic shop, and walk in and order it..
I suggest you do so right now though.. There IS a bit of lead time..Especially on books done by "smaller" companies.
I also understand from someone else that one of the LKH sites will have a link to, or actually have an order form...

For myself I will probably check out the new comic (I'm hoping for good art).. I read the Anita Blake books, all of them so far.. And I rather enjoyed the first couple.. But after that, I frankly just found the characters, especially Blake, progressively more annoying and tiresome.

Yeah, there are times when Anita and her issues, and almost always when Richard with his issues annoy the heck outta me.

But others I'm on the edge of my seat, skim reading it to find out what happends (I skip words/sentances in paragraphs, zeroing in on important stuff).
Later have to re-read to get every detail but its worth it.

Most of the guys I know reading this series have stopped and become disgusted with Anita's choices. I can still enjoy them the way they are but I understand why they are fed up. The sex is taking over her books. She has written that she "isn't comfortable with writing negative things like violence" and that it colors her world in a bad way.

Consequently she is mostly writing sex now in her books. A lot of the sex writing is the same too. The "spill" of long flowing hair was like a "curtain" that shut us off the the rest of the world and so on. However she has made sex magic and power. She has made it at times it's own violence.

I was initially in love with her books because of the constant action in them. In the first book (or two?) there was no sex with Anita because she was so restrained emotionally and afraid of it. Now she can't seem to control herself and most magic is done via sex.

*shrugs*

Oh well, I still get hot reading some of her words. I like Micah better than most of the men Anita has been involved with.

I find it somewhat amusing that Anita like a lot of my role playing characters takes on so much responsibility albeit reluctantly and let's people/monsters fall under her care/protection.

I skim a lot of her stuff too. I find that the fairy books end now just when I have an intriguing question about what may be in the future plot.

I never liked Richard.

I finished guilty pleasures yesterday. I loved it, and I loved Micah. *shrugs* I personally can't wait to see how she gets from guilty pleasures to Micah. I've only read the first of the Merry Books, but I'm going to get them done pretty quickly. Having an awesome reading speed helps. Uninterupted I can finish one of her books in three hours. :D

I know, I know, it's just a book - but why did Anita Blake think Richard was the "pick of the litter" ( :) ) when the first time she met him, he was in Jean-Claude's bed? That's called a clue, people!

Anybody tried Charlaine Harris? I read her Shakespeare series first, and then found her Southern Vampire series. Really enjoying them.

Nope. Got a link?

I haven't read the Shakespeare series but I have the Southern Vampire series and I LOVED them!

Ok, now she's on my must read list, too.

I had a friend who recommended JR Ward. Anyone read anything of hers?

Not yet but it looks good to me!

That's what I was thinking. LOL Next book I buy is gonna be one of hers. Well unless the new Christine Feehan comes out first. ;)

Bring the sexy bloodsucker books!
LOL

I've read the Southern Vamps and really liked them. Relatable characters, sexy vamps, lots of fun.

The first three are excellant! The third goes darker though and really delves into the depravities that Phedre can endure (and enjoy) as an anguisette and just how far Joscelin's oath to be her "perfect companion" can take him as well. I have friends that said they "liked it but would avoid reading it again" but I personally loved it and thought it was the best of them if only for the particular challenges it throws at Phedre and Joscelin's feet.

Parts of it make their crossing the Skaldi border in the first one look like a summer picnic and that's all I'm gonna say lol.

If it's not obvious I am chomping at the bit for the fourth one. I HAVE to know how Imri (you'll love him when you get to him!) turns out.
