Untamed

Intended marriage, Mr Williams, that can't happen. "You are not crazy miss kat, i find you an interesting person even. I didn't know of such an agreement but if such exist, believe me when i say, you won't marry Mr Williams" they walk further on in silence, all this while stealing little glances at each other. As they came out of the woods, he held her wrist and slowly turned her to face him.
He gently brushed a strand of hair back from her face. "you don't have to remain like a prisoner here, feel free to come talk to me about anything, remember memories are best lucid when shared."
He gently ran his hand on Rupert but in his heart wished it was kat's body. "don't worry miss kat, your secret is safe with me," he stepped back a little from her. "have a nice night." he said dismissing her.

Kat nodded as he spoke to her feeling an odd twinge of safety from merely being in his presence. He assured her of her silence and that was good enough for her.
As he left her she returned Rupert to the stables and made her way to her room.

There she thought about her adventure with Mr. Strange. The way his lips touched hers briefly. The way he swept the hair from her face. She smiled as she rarely did. It was unlike her to be affected by any man. But he was different. She could feel it in the words he spoke and the thought he put into them.

Kat slept well that night until her dreams woke her. The same dream the man with the black hair saving her from the wolf. When she went back to sleep she dreamed of dancing with him.

When morning came she quickly got dressed and did her hair and made her way downstairs for breakfast. The house guests were already seated when she entered and made her way to her seat.

It was the most peaceful sleep he had had in years. He woke up refreshed and eager to start the day. Lyden went to his bag and pulled out a diary. In it he jotted down his discoveries.
Kat doesn't know about her former life.
Though she is in a different place now, she still has her old inquisitive attitude.
She still believes in the paranormal.
He chuckled as he added the last part. She still has an effect on his self-control.

Putting on a black t-shirt, denim jacket and blue jeans, he headed downstairs for breakfast. Today he'll be escorting Mr Anthony, to the site that they are planning to buy from the O'Neils.
Lyden pulled a seat and sat, miss kat came down the stairs a little while later. Her appearance changed the atmosphere around the table, for every one beamed up on seeing her. Of course Lyden's gaze lingered more on her than other's.
After she was seated, grace was said and everyone dived for their plates.
Not a word was spoken in course of the meal, though the two new friends

Continually exchanged glances between each other.
After the table was cleared by the maid, they moved to the living room and unlike her, Kat lingered on a little longer. Mr Anthony broke the silence as the family relaxed into the couch.
"thank you Mr O'Neil for the hospitality so far," he said, sarcasm never leaving his tongue. "you have done well but i can't help but feel cheated"
"cheated? How do you mean sir" John asked agitated.
"i have been here for more than twenty hours and yet no one has come to warm my bedside, i feel this is very uncivilised of a man of your standings,"
"we ar...." John tried to apologize but was cut short by the arrogant Anthony. "i haven't finished yet Mr O'Neil. Like i was saying, i find this very degrading of a man of your status, but nevertheless, i'll forgive your ignorance in modern hospitality and take the honor upon myself of finding a suitable girl." he finished and sipped his wine.
Kat's parent heaved in relief, at least he has forgiven their

Ignorance and has even offered to find the girl himself. He placed the glass back on the table and shocked the room. "i have chosen your daughter to warm my bedside this night. She is not the most suitable but is what is currently available, besides she has been promised to me already, right?" he cockily announced and crossed his left leg over his right, then relaxed back into the couch.

Like everyone in the room Kats jaw dropped at the impropriety Sir William just showed. She blinked and then looked at her parents who seemed to actually be considering it.

"Sir William, i'm not sure where you hail from but this is not a third world country. There is no obligation to supply you with a bed warmer. Additionally you confuse yourself with the presumption that one would actually be honored to share your bed. I assure you sir that is not the case. I will not this eve, or any eve take a willingly participation in warming your bed. There is a brothel in town where even there i would be surprised if your money was enough."

With that she did a slight curtsy and left. The audacity of the man had her in an uproar. Not even Lyden had spoken a word in her defense. But how could he speak against his employer.

With great rage she took it upon herself to go riding. She was completely outraged that someone would have the audacity to make such a statement. Just because he held a title he felt he had some right over her. No, that would not do tonight she would sleep with a knife under her pillow and a chair under the handle of her door making certain that he wasn't going to try to warm her bed.

Rupert was at full gallop into the woods and made his way back to the spot that she had shared with Lyden.
Dismounting she heard the car roaring away. She assumed they were on there way to look at the property her father was to sell. Or maybe, just maybe he was insulted enough to leave for good. Oh how she wished that was true. Then it dawned on her. If he left, so would Lynden. No.. she decided, Lyden will find a way to say goodbye if that was the case.

This was the first time she could remember looking forward to the men returning. Taking up the spot under the tree she pulled out her book. He would know where to find her she told herself. But would he come she wondered.

She supposed it would depend on how much business there was. Perhaps he couldn't get away. What was she saying? There was no arrangement between the two of them. Yet still she was convinced that he would come. However, after Sir Williams display would he want to.

Lyden was perplexed and outraged at the man's statement. It wouldn't cost him anything to rip off the head of the pompous spoilt brat, except his honor. For though Mr Anthony could really get on his nerves, he was still honor bound not to hurt a grain of hair on his head.
Through out the drive he tried to act interested in Anthony's ramblings when actually he was struggling to keep his beastly rage at bay.
With the shit ass grin on Anthony's face as they drove back to the mansion, Lyden knew the proceedings went well.
"everything going as expected?" he inquired as the mansion came to view.
"ofcourse, why wouldn't they? Did you know that after offering to pay double of the initial amount if he get his daughter in to my arms, he hastily accepted."
"all this for a little girl, surely you can have someone else."
"no Mr Strange," Anthony wagged a finger in his face, "this is a thing of pride, she insulted me and must pay for it, submissively. That is what you believe in right?"
Lyden's eyes

Were filled with rage, and as it rose so did his bloodlust rise, he could hear the vigourous movement of blood in the arteries of Mr Anthony, the incessant beating of his heart as fresh blood gushed from it. He hadn't had a kill in weeks, now he was hungry, no scratch that, he was starving.
With his eyes tightly closed, he concentrated on the only thing that restored balance and clearity to him; the image of kat in his arms.
"i believe in honor Mr Anthony not pride"
Anthony scoffs, "be that as it may, she'll still pay for her outburst this morning."
Immediately he escorted Anthony upstairs, he ducked into the woods. His desire to see her not his speed, brought him to the clearing in record time. He stepped out of the woods into the clearing where kat sat with a book on her lap.
"do you understand better when you read here?" he asked startling her.

Kat jumped a little clenching her chest when Strange came into her little spot in the woods. "I am away from prying eyes, the sounds of a parents tears over their misfortune for a daughter, and i'm with the trees who have a language all of their own. So yes i think i do understand better when i read under them." she smirked and smiled at him.

"I'm assuming that your business meeting went well, my father would bend over backwards to sell that property." she advised folding the page over in her book and closing it. Laying her book on her lap she waved him over.

"Please come sit with me" she smiled re-positioning herself against the tree. Her sun dress rising just a little to show off her calves as she did. Pulling her dress back down she looked around the woods in awe of the way the light showed through the leaves.

"I'm glad you came to find me."

"I had to, you are the best distraction so far to this misfortune of protecting Mr Anthony"

"I had to, you are the best distraction so far to this misfortune of protecting Mr Anthony" he hadn't miss the skirt riding up her smooth calves and he hadn't allowed himself to stare for long, ofcourse she had quickly dressed it up. Lyden made a to-do in his mind to jot down that kat was a little different than Angela. The Angela he knew was wide in all areas, but Kat seemed to be modest about clothings and was more reserved. Maybe it was due to her childhood training, though Lyden was sure that the wide part of her still exists, maybe locked up in the deep recesses of her genes but still exists.
He takes a seat beside, enjoying the scent of vanilla from her hair, the occasional smile that splits her rose lips, the eyes that seem to sparkle when thrown to him, he enjoyed it all.
"why didn't you accept Mr Anthony's offer? Is it that you already belong to someone else?"

She smiled at his comment about being a good distraction. Then came his next question which caused her offense.

"Are you serious?" she was astonished. "Why would i indulge that spoiled, arrogant, self obsessed ass? There was no offer there was an assumption, and I am not a bargaining chip for any man.
Indeed, why would I? I have yet to warm a mans bed and i will not let him be the first. I'm saving my maidens head for the man i love."

Kat sighed thinking of the man that had saved her so long ago.

"One day he'll come for me. I shall wait as long as it takes. My parents and everyone else think i'm insane and living in a dream world. But he was real, and one day he'll come back for me, i know he will."

"You can tell your employer that if he even thinks of coming near me I will cut him from navel to nose."

She was a bit irritated that he could even ask the question as to why she wouldn't agree to Sir Williams instructions.

His words touched her, he was glad to know she felt what he also felt for her, but he also felt a tinge of sadness that he couldn't come to her as Mr Strange.
"i'm sorry to have brought it up fair lady, Mr Anthony's attitude is unlikeable by any lady, i guess i just wanted to hear you blurt out your rejection again.
"this man, the one you are in love with who saved you from the wolf on the full moon, would you accept him into your bed if he came tonight?" shit, she hadn't told him that the man saved her from the wolf on a full moon. He realised his mistake and hoped she wouldn't see it.

Kat laughed softly at his reply about wanting to hear her blurt it out again.

Then he asked his next question.

"I didn't tell you that's who it was. You're just like the rest and I had hoped you were different. You're mocking me." Tears sprung to her eyes as she rose hastily.

"Who i may or may not bed and when isn't any of your concern. I should have known better. You're all the same"

"No wait," he sprang to his feet and held her wrist. His heart bleeding that he had hurt her. "i..i..i didn't mean to hurt your feelings Kat, i just assumed you will give into this man that you loved. I'm sorry for bringing it up, and i'm not mocking you, i sincerly believe what you saw was real. Please don't cry account of me, you kill me if you do." he pleaded sincerly

Kat sniffled a little and searched his eyes for what he said to be true. He was so close to her. Her heart raced quickly as her hand slowly reached up to his face. "Who are you?" she questioned. "Why do i trust you? and why does that one kiss still linger on my lips?"

His grip on her still remained. It was not hurting her, it was firm and yet gentle, at the same time it was also possessive. Her heart and mind were confused at the way she saw this man before her.

She had promised herself to the man that saved her. Yet at the same time she was so eager to spend time with this one. This man was so full of life and yet didn't treat her like a possession or inferior.

He instinctively brought his hand to her hair, caressing it tenderly, "you trust me because you know me, Kat." as he starred into her eyes, all the emotions he had kept locked away for three hundred years came flooding back in. He cups her chin and fed her poetry, the one they both shared centuries ago.
"your hair is beautiful
Upon your cheeks
And falls along your
Neck like jewels.
You are like a lily
Among thorns,
Like an apple tree
Among the trees of the
Of the forest, and i love
To sit in its shadow, and
Its fruit is sweet to
My taste" he finished hoping that she will remember her part in that song and not think him for a fool. He felt cold and dearly needed her warmth. Oh how much he'll like to hold her.

Kat searched his eyes as he sang a song that was so familiar to her, yet she wasn't sure why. Then she spoke

My king was lying on his couch,
and my perfume filled the air with fragrance.
My lover has the scent of myrrh as he lies upon my breasts.
My lover is like the wild flowers that bloom in the vineyards at Engedi.

"Why do i know this?" She begged of him.
"Who are you?" She questioned again stepping back from his touches.

Her eyes searched his and then she stood cold. The wolfish eyes. The black hair.

"A girl of six wondered in the woods and was cornered by a wolf. A man rescued her. What did he do to scare off the wolf? " She asked.
She had never told anyone about the growl that came from the pit of his stomach that blew her hair.

Only one person would know that.

His face brightened with joy as she sang back to him, she was still in there, Angela.
And then she backed away from him and asked him for something that he himself has done. He knew she was conflicted now, and so answered her truthfully.
"he growled, a deep animalistic growl from his stomach, i growled and the beast ran into the woods." he said spilling the beans

"You" she said shaking her head. "You growled from the pit of your stomach and scared the wolf. You rescued me."

Kat plopped back down upon the ground. "For twelve years they've said i was crazy. But i knew you were real." Tears of relief came from her eyes. "I knew you'd come back. I have waited for you for so long. Everyday i came to these woods. To this spot, waiting for you. Sometimes twice a day. Each day my heart broke a little when i had to leave. Worried that if i left you'd come and think i forgot."

She sniffled a bit and continued

"I couldn't remember your face. But i remembered your eyes and your hair. I remembered the sound of your voice as you shushed me and told me not to be afraid that you would always protect me. But then you left. You were my prince that I've waited for. Promise me that you won't leave me again."
Her emerald eyes searched his for assurance. As her hands reached up and gripped his.

He held her hand and went down on one kneel infront of her, like a knight will do his lord, like a prince will do his princess and like a lover to a lost love.
He brought her hand to his face, then kissed her back palm. "i'm sorry for making you wait so long, i had to make sure..." he trailed off, not quite ready to dislodge that part yet. "i have kept tabs on you, watching you from the corners, the underbush, the hilltop, the windows, i have always been there, looking out for you. Because i love you and," he bowed slightly, his right hand folded a fist and was placed on his chest "i promise i will never leave you.." he paused then added, his head still bowed "..you have my word."

Kat didn't have anymore words for him. Instead she cupped his face in her palm and rose it so their eyes locked once again. Rolling up on her knees she kissed him. She wasn't quite sure what she was doing but she did her best to give him a passionate kiss from the heart.

"I hope i did that ok" she said softly while blushing a little. "I wish to never leave your side again. "Would you be willing to ask my father for my hand?" she questioned hopefully.

Perhaps she should have waited for him to ask her to marry him. But she was so overjoyed at the moment with her heart bursting. He'd returned for her, finally after all this time he'd returned.

"I'm sorry" she said giggling a little. "I just don't want to go another day without belonging to you."

"neither do i, my lily in thongs, neither do i want you out of my hands for even a second" then his features hardened, his voice sober, "but you are already bethroted to the Duke's house. And i'n bounded by honor to protect his interest for he saved my life once. Mr Anthony will have to give you willingly to me, my sweet kat."
He wished she would understand the situation he was in, this was a battle between his honor and his love. How will he look at the mirror again if he threw his honor away. A principle that has guided him all those years.
How will he live knowing Kat was now out of his reach, taken away by the man he had sworn to protect.
He prayed she'll understand and maybe think up a way to save both, for she was the brain and he the muscle.

"Betrothed? I am not betrothed to that pig. Nor will i ever be. I am supposing my father made some sort of deal. He's done that before and it has never succeeded. I understand that he saved your life. But you saved mine first. My honor is to you and only to you. I will not be a pawn in some game of property and titles. I have waited twelve years for you an now you are basically telling me it's impossible unless he hands me over like a piece of property."

Her nostrils flared as her temper rose. "The only reason he wants me, is because he can't have me. So then i shall shower him with attention and affection and annoy him till he cannot breath. But he also wishes to bed me. I have saved myself for you and you alone."

Tears sprung to her eyes. "Oh he will give me to you willingly. Give me three days and he will be ready to leave. He isn't the first that has tried this. But he will be the last."

Kat was now determined, she kissed her heart once again and rose. "It's about lunch time and time for me to make him regret ever setting his eyes upon me."

Entering the house separately she went to her room and got ready for lunch. This time she put on her most tacky outfit and a ton of makeup. She looked utterly ridiculous.

Upon entering the dining hall everyone was already seated. "Sir William, so good to see you again!" she said with a bright smile running over to Kiss him on his cheek leaving a bright red lipstick stain upon it. "I hear we are to be married. I can hardly tell you how excited i am to begin our family. How does six to eight children sound to you? I thought this outfit would be perfect for our honey moon. Oh i can't wait to enter society with you on my arm."

"What is this hazardious material?" he shrieked back, almost tumbling the chair, his hand flung to his cheek, he brought it back to his face, plastered with red lipstick.
"wha...what..can't you, Mr O'Neil, what is this?"
"i...i don't know, Sir Anthony, she's normally not like this." her father said agitated.
"go to your room, and make yourself presentable." her mother barked.
Lyden kept watching, a smile hardly left his face.
