Unreasonable Attacks

Or maybe after 8 years you come to care about a place and start giving a damn. Even though I don't agree with Pilot (sr71plt, I hope you don't mind me referring to you as such but it's annoying to type up your user name) I can understand the frustration that comes with seeing something you care about failing to live up to its potential.

Lit will likely always be years behind in functionality compared to other story sites where there is no freedom of speech and submissions are rigidly moderated to the point of being rejected for the silliest reasons. I know this firsthand.

I suspect it has less to do about giving a damn and more about frustration over perceived lack of exposure.

We're not talking about what rhymes with your cat. You have no idea about the across-the-board functionality of this Web siet because you've spent what little time you've been here self-absorbed on finding a rhyme for cat rather than helping anyone else navigate the site as it exists.

Most of your posts have actually been pretty inane on any topic. Again, just by clicking your name on a post anyone else can trip through your posting history who wants to, including, of course, DarkPleasures.

You are pretty bad at this trolling thing.

Just saying.

Tell me how did this, and so many other stories by this guy get posted in anything other than non-english.

(seriously, comments are fun and informative)

ETA- Maybe you should check out pilot's stuff before talking about lack of exposure.

I don't work here, so ......

The info should be passed along to someone that does who is in a position to fix it.

If said person is not fixing it and it still bothers you, you can always complain and shame Laurel in the forum.

And if complaining and shaming Laurel doesn't work and you still insist up remaining active at Lit, I'm thinking it's because you are hesitant to give up something that you've become possessive of. Hence, feelings of entitlement.

ETA- Maybe you should check out pilot's stuff before talking about lack of exposure.

I said perceived lack of.

Some people can have a lot of something and still not be satisfied.

Why would anyone check out PILOTs wares, read one read em all.

Standard Story: (boss, perfesser, father, military superior, priest, president) forces a subordinate over a (barrel, sofa, table, chair) and sodomizes them. I always think of a queer Hugh Hefner with pipe and smoking jacket.

I have a question. Doesn't flaming equate with harassment ? There is a rule about harassment....

Of course there is a fine line between an argument in a thread and people following others around the boards to deliberately taunt them and bomb their stories.

But I just described the GB to a T in the former part of the last statement. But when anyone complains they are being harassed the answer is "that is what ignore is for"

So another example of a rule that is never enforced.

LOvecraft set the standard for formula stories.

Pick a deceased relative-uncle, grandad....

Pick a murky mystery shrouded location. Miskatonic, Arkham....

Pick a forbidden tome Necronimicon, Book of Eibon....

Pick a great old one. Cthulhu, Azatoth, Shub Niggurath....

Story ends with....death, disappearance or insanity.....

This is a result of lits fantastic "screening process" where one person looks at a hundred stories in a short period of tiem and approves them. The stories barely get a skim if that.

Which is why you not only get things like your example, but all the other rule breaking stories.

The shame here is that author worked his tail off and got his story posted in the wrong section and lost out on good feedback and scoring

If he complains....first off unless he knows of the boards he will hit contact us and never get a response and if he came here complaining he would be told he is a ungrateful troll.

I reviewed the law for harassment. In a nutshell, if you cause emotional distress, and your action serves no legitimate outcome, youre a bully. I assume picking your nose, scratching your ass, and eating with your mouth open cause distress. But you can adjust your package or fart or pee your pants.

I've always understood harassment to be assault committed outside the ring.

I will continue my trolling. Pilot mentioned the monthly contests coming back and announcing winners from almost three years ago.

The winners are not notified and most authors do not come to the boards. The only way they could know they won is if they notice a "W" on their page.

Many may not know it means money and if they hit the contact us button.....

So I took it upon myself to contact the Oct/Nov 2011 winners myself

You know, cause I am such an asshole that I hate to see people screwed. This was a response that I received from one of them.

I mentioned I sent e-mails to the October/November winners.

I received this today from one of them that I posted in the "now that monthly contests are back thread" I added my comments there at the end

Now someone can do their best to defend this BS.

I did find it and just sent Laurel a message. I really appreciate you mentioning it! I never would have thought to check that thread, especially since it has been so long since I posted that chapter. It does seem a little disingenuous to expect people to know to check those threads three years after the fact, and then give us 60 days to contact them to boot!

Very happy I could get this person their money.

But they came up with a very good word for this crap.

Seriously, of the 21 winners announced since the sudden return of these contests how many do you think are coming forward? Very little of this money is being paid out and its not fair, at least when they are this old.

All the time I assume it takes to shuffle through a months worth of stories and there can't be three minute(one per) to send an e-mail to the winner?

Odds are they will still keep some money, some people just wander off never to return, but at least an effort was made.

To me, just dump the damn things. They went away with no announcement and no reason and returned the same way mostly due to some griping.

But yet the griping that has been going on for years about the chapter entries not being allowed was totally unheeded and again, the return is for show this money is staying with the site.

Back where I grew up this was referred to as "Mighty white of you"

Before my time, eh?

Funny story ......

I was actually here about 6 years ago getting into a frackus with some members who were hot linking images from my personal website. Bandwidth theft was/is a hot button an issue for small time site operators like me ( and nowadays Google, Bing and Yahoo just blatantly steal from everyone ). I registered and tried to illustrate how to post photos whilst giving credit and a back link to the photo owners. The fact that I used affiliate links was cause for me to be pegged as a spammer. I understand that the subsequent banishment was the result of a misunderstanding.

Despite that, I'm back again. This time around, I know better than to police the activity of Lit members. Literotica is not my site, no matter how much of my content ends up here voluntarily or involuntarily.

You should've reported the post with the photo or contacted us via email. We always remove hotlinked content whenever a webmaster has requested it. In recent years, we're less stringent on our policy on hotlinking because many mainstream sites (Google, Bing, Tumblr, Pinterest) hotlink constantly and people expect to be able to share images in this way. Still, we do get photographers and webmasters who will occasionally request a hotlinked image be removed, and we always do so.

Lit will likely always be years behind in functionality compared to other story sites where there is no freedom of speech and submissions are rigidly moderated to the point of being rejected for the silliest reasons. I know this firsthand.

In the early days, I wanted to make tons of big changes design-wise. I've learned from watching other sites that is a bad idea. We've seen some pretty successful sites ruin themselves with too-much-too-soon. I remember one spectacular failure, a TGP which completely changed its design overnight from a very straightforward text-based interface to a tricky Flash dealie. Its users were not pleased, and the site tanked because no one could figure out the navigation. They never recovered their traffic numbers. Contrary to the complaints, users do not want new. They want to be able to find things the way they always have. So, you have to ease them into things.

Google always does things incrementally. And that's what we're doing. The site has made incremental design and functionality changes over the last 5 years. And we'll continue to do things that way.

Lesson learned the hard way.

And with a site of this magnitude, rushing changes could result in massive data loss.

When membership sites are corrupted or deleted and started over from scratch, they usually tank hard.

When one of the local trolls was hotlinking to my website, I replaced the image he'd put in about a dozen posts to this:

Took him a day or so to catch it and remove the images from his posts. Fun times.

Yeah, I've heard of that happening. Sucks, bigtime. :(

looool! That's classic! :D :D :D

Anyhoo..... don't listen to me.

Afterall, I'm just a self absorbed poet who never takes the time to read and comment on anyone else's work perhaps followed up with suggestions or advice.

And certainly never recommends this site over other competitors or sends you additional readers.

I usually did stuff like that to mainstream sites and it involved photos of naked sailors giving a one gun salute.

Back about the time I retired from the state they spent a bazillion dollars modernizing the computer system. They intended to link every public service agency in one system. And if you had the authorization you could access what you needed to do your work without dealing with bureaucrats. Once it was up and running I deleted every Food Stamp recipient in Tampa. Prolly a million folks. 9 years later the system still doesn't work. Most police departments abandoned it years ago.

No, do try to stay on the topic. I have reviewed all of your posts since you arrived (perhaps you didn't know we could do that) and I haven't found you providing any help to any other user on how to navigate this Web site. That's what we're discussing here--the functionality of the Web site. We're not talking about what rhymes with your cat. You have no idea about the across-the-board functionality of this Web siet because you've spent what little time you've been here self-absorbed on finding a rhyme for cat rather than helping anyone else navigate the site as it exists.

And just so you understand who you are messing with...I am putting you #1 on my report sheet today, too!

looool! That's classic! :D :D :D

Not as classic (or sucking as much) as you ignoring the problems going on (technically & otherwise) with CHYOO, its Forums, & their rule-violating... No, not members... MODS!!!

To the point where we had to create their own separate site & Forums. Sadly, the person that did that knew no better (obviously thinking quickly, if at all) than to give the Mod status to the same rule-violating staffers on the new ones. The old Mods stayed "up to their old tricks", quickly banning some of the best members from the Forums for reasons that were never true (on the old or new places).

Before you tell me this belongs in a PM to you, I have done that to... Incessantly... And received NO RESPONSE!!!

That user is the scouries of CHYOO. So by all means take up his cause as well. :rose:

My point was, how did a foreign language even get cleared if it was really read by someone. And not once or twice but repeatedly. I have no issue with it. I brought it up because you mentioned a rigid screening process.

If said person is not fixing it and it still bothers you, you can always complain and shame Laurel in the forum.

I see what you did there.

I said perceived lack of.

Some people can have a lot of something and still not be satisfied.

My statement applies- perceived or otherwise. He maybe a pompous ass but I doubt he'd worry about exposure on Lit. Not because i've read any of his stuff but because I've seen him post links to his books and he usually publishes some of that stuff for free on Lit.

Why would anyone check out PILOTs wares, read one read em all.

I snorted.
