God, it was so hot out today, she thought as she walked over and propped open the window of the small college dorm room. Zoe took in a deep breath of fresh air, sighing as a cool breeze flowed through the window and lifted her spirits slightly.
She sat back down on her bed, looking across to her roommates side of the room, wondering where she was. It wasn’t like Claire to be gone for this long. She hadn’t seen her since late last night.
Oh, well, Zoe thought as she looked down at her biology textbook. It’s her life and she can live it however she likes.
Claire and Zoe came from two different walks of life. Claire was tall, with long dark hair and a beautiful body. She was rich, lots of friends, got everything she wanted. Zoe had lived on welfare for much of her life while her single mother worked three jobs to support her and her brothers. She was short, barely breaking 5’3, with sandy blonde hair that hung to her shoulders and dark brown eyes. While she worked out on a regular basis, her body still held soft curves instead of Claire’s to die for physique.
How they had ended up as roommates was anyone’s guess, but it had worked out pretty well so far. Four month into the year and they had found a common ground and had developed into fast friends.
With a sigh, Zoe flopped onto her side, her tank top and shorts sticking to her tanned skin as she tried to distract herself from the unbearable heat.
