Why do you hate freedom?

Because I'm British and we don't believe in freedom here like they do in the USA. Just ask the American Samoans.

Again, reading the other posts in the thread provides dividends. However, as I'm a generous soul, I shall provide: http://www.conservativecat.com/mt/archives/2004/11/111504_capitali_1.html

You can't really blame him... I was having fun... and when I'm in a silly mood I'm very easy to ignore... I actually recommend it.

I still got dibs on Jessica though... but Charlize Theron will do! Hmm... i'd like seconds on Nicole Kidman too.

Sincerely,

I followed that link before and for the second time, I do not find the article to which you refer....perhaps I will try again tomorrow...

It's not an article; it's a flash animation which shows some supply/demand graphs and uses them to argue your point.

However, you've already rejected those (accepted by every economist) graphs as being plain wrong when I used them to point out that the free market won't provide for all.

Why are so many people responding to the troll? Though I do admit reading the responses does provide some humour :)

I was at work waiting for someone else to do their job so I could do mine... Amicus is very amusing during those days.

He's like masturbation when there's nothing on TV; the point is to see how long I can keep it up.

I'm not responding. I'm bored and it's mildly amusing to drive the truck through the holes in his arguments. At first, there is always a slight hope that he might engage in debate. By this point, I'm waiting to see which logic will result in an answer to my latest piece of evidence.

I think "Just ask the American Samoans" may become my new answer to every question.

Yeah, playing "on the bus, off the bus" is such fun, huh? :D I admire your stamina :)

It's even better than that... you see.

Amicus is a moral atheist.

ElSol is a relativist Catholic.

I think if you put us in the same room, all of existence would come to an end.

Urination isn't the issue here. I can run faster with my skirt up around my waist than a man can with his pants around his ankles.

Hurry up, asshole. Shit or get off the pot.

Heh. Not sure how to intepret this silent treatment. Did I logic him out of the loop?

A small point

It might be noted that Medicare in the US is a government run medical insurance scheme for those over 65. [Supplemented with Medicaid, iirc, another government program.] It seems that a majority of Americans want to keep it, including Republicans. Indeed Bush has pushed a complex and partial *extention* in the area of presription drugs.

So the various objections, as in Appleby's article, the worries about abuse of insurance, uncontainable costs, etc., are just not panning out.

Were Americans actually in Amicus 19th century frame of mind, they'd be up in arms about the loss of freedom, the impairment of dr/patient relationships, 'free exchange of goods and services.' They'd be calling for the repeal of the legislation. But mostly they're not, although coverage is weakened with copayments and various clever limitations.

Here is where the (self said) freedom-loving Amicus has a problem with democracy and its results. There is desperate appeal to various bits of ad hoc fantasy: That the Republican party has become heavily tinged with socialism and stalinism. That the Red states' folks are socialist dupes, etc.

I think he might've twigged that we were using him for cheap entertainment.
