Unexpected Reunion <closed>

John sat for a few moments and started to decompress. It was the first chance he had to do it since the attack. He was running everything that had happened through his mind. He didn't like the helpless feeling that he had when the attack took place. He swore it would never happen again.

His mind started to wander a little. He was thinking about Nicole and the information that she had shared with him. He was more upset with his father than Nicole, but there was still some displeasure felt toward her. Then he thought of her in a different way.

She looked amazing. She was the most beautiful woman at the event, and she was the head of his protection detail. Yes, he had always thought she was attractive, but they had been colleagues on missions... plus, she had been a smart ass the first time they met.

Standing up, walked back to where she was. "I really like your new uniform. I was just thinking that we could make a few modifications to it going forward. You look so much better in a dress than you do in camo." He winked at her. "By the way, my name is John, which you know. Do not call me Highness or anything like that."

He sat down across from her. "I don't care what my father says to you. I will never be left vulnerable again; like I was tonight. I will be read in on the details of every protection plan BY YOU."

She wanted to punch him when he said she'd look better in a dress. Before her mind went too wild with a reaction, she watched him sit before her and that's when she relaxed and took a deep breath. Old Nicole would've probably had a melt down over his words and actions but she had learned a long time ago that that didn't held anything.

Nicole was quiet for a moment before speaking up, "I'm apologize...John. I'm only following orders," with a sigh, she leaned back into her chair, "As you get settled after we land, I do need some time to figure some things out... strategies and such. I will keep you briefed on everything but I need the same for you. I'm not sure if your schedule will remain the same or what, but we'll cross that bridge when we get there." She had wanted to add 'happy?' to that but had thought better of it.

Was he satisfied with that? She didn't find any use in fighting him about it but rather, work with him instead. It would make things easier for everyone in the future.

"Now... What do you think your Father has in mind?" She had met the man a few times and well, he was a hard ass, but at least he was a hard ass who cared about his children...and not because they were his successors but rather, they were his children.

He could tell by the look on her face that she was upset. It was the one thing that he had learned about Nicole when they worked together... she could never hide how she was feeling.. she wore her emotions on her sleeve.

John was not happy that she was patronizing him. "Nicole, if you are just going to say things to me because you think it will shut me up, you might as well quit when we land. It isn't going to work like that. My father is a stubborn man, but I am much more stubborn. I can be a great part of a team, but I can also be quite the pain in the ass when I am the one calling the shots. So, either resign yourself to the fact that my security will be a collaboration between us, or find another gig that pays you as well as I am sure my father is paying you."

Standing up, John went forward on the plane, and sat back in his original seat. Nothing made him angrier than people trying to shut him up. Usually all it did was make him angry. He closed his eyes and ran through the attack. He was convinced that someone on the inside had something to do with it.

And there was the spoiled brat... storming off. Nicole could only sigh. Sure, she could have been a bit more...on the level.

It was all for the best. She would share what she had planned but it was best if they kept a distance from each other. She was here to protect him, after all. Not be his bestie. She had known that from the start.

And if he thought she was doing this for the money... fuck, he was surely wrong. Yeah, it paid good but not great. She could make plenty of money doing other private security detail jobs that paid a lot more... perhaps even a few assassination jobs which after about 10, she wouldn't have to work another day in her life.

"Pouty brat.." she said to herself as she went back to her work. They still had a couple more hours in air before they landed. From there, they would be driven to John's home where a doctor would be waiting for them to check John over, whether he liked it or not. It would be late afternoon and the family wouldn't be meeting until the next day.

Would she get any sleep before then? No. Now would be a perfect time to get some sleep in... an hour is all she needed.

As she closed her eyes, Nicole thought about what happened. She had used her old contacts in the city to get the info..perhaps that was a mistake. She used people she could trust...perhaps they weren't trusting enough?

John wondered if Nicole was the leak. Was there a reason for her to be like that? He decided that he was looking in the wrong area. If she was the reason for the attack, she would never had accompanied him back home.

His thoughts turned to those who were regulars on his security detail. Which of them, if any, would betray him? He didn't think any of them could be bought, but you could never be certain.

He relaxed and dozed off. His mind wandered and he had a dream about Nicole. She was in the dress that she was wearing... at least for part of the dream... then, the dress was on the floor and she was standing before him.. her incredible body revealed to him. He awoke with a start as the plane touched down.

Nicole woke up about 20 minutes before the plane touched down. She saw by the time she had slept well over 2 hours... hmmm.. that almost never happened.

She gathered her bag and set it across the seat from her before pulling her hair back into a ponytail. Grabbing her phone, she made sure the security detail that would meet them after they landed were in place. They were.

Good.

The plane touched down at the private airport and made its way to the tarmac. There the convoy of vehicles were waiting. After a few minutes, the doors to the plane opened and they headed out. Nicole didn't say much to John but that didn't matter right now...she was making sure all was going to plan. She got into the SUV with him and right after, they were off.

They were the only two in the SUV...well, not including the driver.

"We need to stop this..." she said, speaking up. "I'm sorry John. Let's start fresh...ok?"

John sat in the SUV and listened to Nicole. His dream made it difficult for him to look at her. He was afraid if he made eye contact with her that she would know something. He stared straight ahead as the caravan departed the airport.

"Nicole, all I ask of you is that I be part of my own security. I am not asking for much. I am not doubting what you did, or what your abilities are. I have seen you in action. I am comfortable with you in charge. I can't think of anyone I would rather have heading my protection detail."

It was true.. she was great at what she did. What he didn't say was that in addition to being so good at her job, she was incredible attractive and desirable, and he couldn't put the image of her in his dream out of his head.

"OK, ok. I'll inform you of everything. If there are changes, I will tell you." She was honest with him. He wanted to know everything, she would tell him.

Almost an hour more of traveling and they arrived at his home. It was early evening and they still had a lot to do. A doctor was waiting to check out John's wound and while he was doing that, she found her room in the huge house. She needed to change and then get with the security detail and get some things settled before the night was over. John would be meeting with his father tomorrow...which was good because they all needed rest.

Nicole did a quick look around the grounds...most to get herself famiilar with the place and also, she needed the walk. She neared the gates of the estate and saw some reports sniffing around near the entrance. She quickly took care of them before they got too bothersome. She was surprised that they were more respectful than some of the press back home.

When things were taken care of, she made her way back to her part of the house...well..mansion... She would be dining by herself in her room as she took some time to herself. Although with the time difference, she knew she'd have no problem getting into some sort of rhythm with her position now that she was more involved.

John reluctantly allowed the doctor to take a look at his wound. The doctor started to talk about cleaning out the wound and John held up his hand. "You are not going to open it up again. It is already starting to heal. Just leave it alone. Tell my father everything is fine and let that be the end of it."

He knew that the doctor wouldn't let that be the end of it. The doctor would run right to his father to report exactly what he found. Yes, it was frustrating at times to be the son of the king; nothing was ever private.. at least, not while at home.

After the doctor left, John undressed and got into the shower. He turned the temperature up high and stood under the steady stream of hot water. It felt good to have the hot water raining down over his body.

Soon his thoughts were on Nicole. He was pissed off at her for not filling him in on what she was up to. One of the things that he valued was communication from those he worked with. Yes, he knew that technically Nicole was working for him... well for his father, but John wanted to take part in his protection details. Better yet, john didn't want to have a protection detail. he felt he could take care of himself.

John also thought about Nicole in that gown.... and out of that gown. He couldn't get the dream out of his head. Seeing her dressed up, and not in camo, shed a new light on her. He knew she was attractive, even in camo... the gown showed her to be stunning.
