Unemployment

The unemployment rate declined to 7.6% with 88K new jobs and a large drop in the percentage of Americans in the job market.

At this rate we'll soon have 0 people outta work and 0 people working.

The BLS numbers are embarrassing.

Most new jobs are low paying fast-food, retail, and temp employment.

and probably all of them are receiving some kind of government assistance. so it continues to suck at the empty tit coffer. they pay little to no taxes. wait until obamacare kicks in and these people get laid off and never rehired or their hours cut back. then the employer pay little or nothing into the obamacare system. the tit shrivels from the constant sucking.

+150k jobs since the previous two months were revised.

Nah, eventually you and your buddies will die off and things will even out. How's your heart?

According to the bls report retail/fast food is shrinking (-24k in March alone). Temp jobs also declined and have been declining for quite a while now. It really doesn't sound like you know what's in the bls report at all. Whatcha got on TV there right now, Limbaugh?

Correct, it's called Medicare and Social Security. Ask our resident conservatives, most of them are retirees who are personally responsible for dragging down the workforce participation numbers.

Those retirees paid into Social Security all their lives while members of the workforce. Now the Obama regime is considering taking it away. It doesn't bother you it won't be there for us in our senior years after paying into it?

No wait.....you'd have to work to understand that concept.

Don't forget that old geezers like busy body, vette, jen, and the guy who steals Judge Dredd plots suck away more federal tax dollars than us people in blue states, oh and they put less in.

The numbers, for decades now, have been quite clear: With some exceptions, what we regard as red states are sent a whole lot more of your hard-earned tax dollars than the traditional blue states. In effect, supposedly indolent, “tax and spend” liberals actually subsidize the individualistic, pure, and hard-working lifestyle of our conservative countrymen.

Obviously, they complain about Obama creating jobs because their Bush II completely destroyed the job market. How many hundreds, no wait, millions of jobs did Bush II and his policies cause the U.S. to lose? The answer: 3.4 million.

Oh and don't forget that your buddy Bush II's job record is the worst since well ever. Let your favorite newspaper the Wall St. Journal explain: The current President Bush, once taking account how long he’s been in office, shows the worst track record for job creation since the government began keeping records.

Looking deeper into the numbers we can see that busy body and his ass clown friends can't even read.

Many of the jobs being created are actually decent ones:

Professional and business services added 51,000 jobs in March. Over the past 12 months,
employment in this industry has grown by 533,000. Within professional and business
services, accounting and bookkeeping services added 11,000 jobs over the month, and
employment continued to trend up in temporary help services and in several other
component industries.

Job growth in health care continued in March, with a gain of 23,000, similar to the prior
12-month average. Within health care, employment increased by 15,000 in ambulatory health
care services, such as home health care, and by 8,000 in hospitals.

Construction employment continued to trend up in March (+18,000). Job growth in this
industry picked up this past fall; since September, the industry has added 169,000
jobs. In March, employment continued to expand among specialty trade contractors
(+23,000). Employment in specialty trade contractors has increased by 128,000 since
September, with the gain about equally split between the residential and nonresidential
components.

And since the conservatards can't read the actual report I'll repost about those "crappy" jobs:

In March, retail trade employment declined by 24,000. The industry had added an average
of 32,000 jobs per month over the prior 6 months. In March, job declines occurred in
clothing and clothing accessories stores (-15,000), building material and garden supply
stores (-10,000), and electronics and appliance stores (-6,000).

I did the math. The government makes a tidy profit from the social security money it collects, and retirees rarely recoup what they paid in or the interest the money accrued. Pure blue state bullshit that retirees are parasites.

And yet the real unemployment rate is 10+%.

Why do you idiots defend the do nothing but blame everyone else president? The guy is a fucking joke...doing everything but concentrate on the economy.

How do I put this...he's a dumbfuck that doesn't have a clue and surrounds himself with dumbfucks who haven't got a clue.

Youre fulla shit about the Judge Dredd plot. In my tale America is a Chinese protectorate where happy Americans grow rice and pigs and chickens for the chinks, count beans in fortress cities, and eat road-kill out in the burbs.

Judge Dredd was the last movie he watched while he sat in his mom's basement collecting snap benefits and some of that Obama stimulus money for taking care of his poor widowed mother.

Yeah, LASSIE and CUJO are the same movie to him.

Then you, or someone here, can feel free to correct or support my understanding of how Social Security has played out since it's inception.

Franklin Roosevelt, democrat, started the FICA program w/the original promise of it being a volunteer pay into an independent trust fund. Never to be used for any other gov't program. It should have stayed that way. LBJ, another democratic President, took the independent FICA "Trust" fund and put it into the General fund so Congress could spend it. During the Carter (democrat) administration, immigrants over 65 who never paid a dime into Social Security, began receiving Social Security. It was exempt from taxation until the 80s.

Right you are, Congress pissed the money away after the Supreme Court ruled that FICA is a tax and no one is guaranteed any benefits. That's the bottomline. But the money you put in over 40 years, accruing interest, amounts to something like 350K, while payouts over 20 years are around 250K, plus retirees don't get the money in a lump sum, they get, on average, $1200 a month, and the average life expectancy is 75-77 years. But I figgered 85.

And it doesn't matter at all if they paid into it or not, the fact is they're swelling the percentage of Americans not in the work force. (incidentally most of them will draw more social security than they paid in over their working lives which is part of the reason SS has a solvency issue).

And wait. What? Obama is considering about taking away Social Security? Even if it was true why would you care since the president doesn't have that power? I thought the conservative line was that Obama was an extremist Marxist nanny-statist and now you're telling me he's getting rid of that stuff? You guys need to huddle up and pick a narrative.

There is just so much wrong in the last dozen or so posts that I shake my head ruefully.

And I also

But, I just woke up from my nap and I'm not inclined to worry a moment over it.

The "real" unemployment rate just dropped .5% in a single month and you're still complaining.

STFU, you JACKASS

In late 2003, when economic growth surged "at the fastest pace in nearly two decades" with the gross domestic product (GDP) growing at a 7.2 percent rate, those in Congress hoping to convince voters that George Bush's policies were failing pointed to the unemployment numbers. To draw attention away from the incredible growth numbers, Democrats pointed to the job market which lagged behind other economic indicators.

In August 2003, reacting to a July unemployment rate of 6.2 percent, Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi asked "Where are the jobs, Mr. President." With the current unemployment rate at 9.8 percent and many predicting it will go higher over the coming months, House Speaker Pelosi should be asking that question even more emphatically than she did six years ago.

It does matter if they paid into it. It's like putting your savings into a bank and then the bank takes it away when you try to draw from it. aka legal theft.

Here's a link about Obama's new take on Social Security to cut the budget:

President Barack Obama will offer cuts to Social Security and other benefits programs in a budget proposal next week aimed at winning over enough congressional Republicans to pass a broad deal to reduce the deficit.....

That's not how social security works bro. It's not a savings program at all.

And modest cuts to social security is not the same thing as taking it away.

You have no idea how the system works. It's nothing at all like a bank account. It's not now, and it was never intended that way. It's designed for the current workers to pay for the current retirees - that's how it's always worked. There is no pile of money with your name on it anywhere - there never was.

In fact, when the system was conceived, the retirement age was set AFTER the average life expectancy age. Wanna go back to the good ole days and raise the retirement age to 72?

Also - nobody gets SS unless they are a survivor of an eligible person, or have paid into it for the designated number of quarters.

Also - nobody stole your trust fund The trust fund is fully invested in treasuries. If you think they have no value, you'd better tell the bond markets because those guys are pissing away trillions buying and selling worthless securities.

Some people, when times get tough and jobs are hard to come by, embrace capitalism and create a commodity to vend:

So not only do you "write" crappy stories who's ideas you stole from Judge Dredd, Red Dawn, and the Manchurian Candidate you don't even know how Social Security works. This is direct from the Social Security website. You're pathetic. Go right more shitty fiction. Oh and now you've lost the jobs argument you failed to make and you look like an ass clown because you got a basic fact wrong. What's your next line going to be? Go playwith busy body he appreciates stupid, old people.

Q1. Which political party took Social Security from the independent trust fund and put it into the general fund so that Congress could spend it?

A1: There has never been any change in the way the Social Security program is financed or the way that Social Security payroll taxes are used by the federal government. The Social Security Trust Fund was created in 1939 as part of the Amendments enacted in that year. From its inception, the Trust Fund has always worked the same way. The Social Security Trust Fund has never been "put into the general fund of the government."

Most likely this question comes from a confusion between the financing of the Social Security program and the way the Social Security Trust Fund is treated in federal budget accounting. Starting in 1969 (due to action by the Johnson Administration in 1968) the transactions to the Trust Fund were included in what is known as the "unified budget." This means that every function of the federal government is included in a single budget. This is sometimes described by saying that the Social Security Trust Funds are "on-budget." This budget treatment of the Social Security Trust Fund continued until 1990 when the Trust Funds were again taken "off-budget." This means only that they are shown as a separate account in the federal budget. But whether the Trust Funds are "on-budget" or "off-budget" is primarily a question of accounting practices--it has no effect on the actual operations of the Trust Fund itself.

Of course you also read the Supreme Court case completely wrong as well. In Flemming v. Nestor the court ruled that only through due process can your Social Security benefits be taken away.

Way you're doing worse than vette and busy body. Literally, everything you've written has been completely wrong or pure bullshit. Maybe should stick to writing "stories" at least then no one will have to read them.
