There are basques, corsets, corselets, teddys, bustiers, body stockings, basquelets, baby dolls, God knows what else.

I'm looking for the name of a piece of female lingerie that fits over the body and often has garters attached. but does not extend down past the hips. They're usually made of fairly sheer fabric, and so are not corsets, and they may or may not have shoulder straps &/or some bra-like part.

Unfortunately I've lost my Frederick's-of- Hollywood catalog ( I know: I'm sheer class:D) and need the name of this thing for a story. Help.

garter belt... if being really naughty you don't wear panties. this just goes over the hips.

if you are looking for something that goes up higher then perhaps a bustier (although this has boning and cups usually) or as stated above a merry widow.

camisole... it's like a very light, filmy semi-loose tank top. Made of silk or satin or mesh and possibly lace. Thin straps and may or may not have bra cups, but if it does they are not underwire, but just kind of sewn in. Kind of like the top half of a negligee. No garter straps. Can be worn with tap pants.

Hmmm. Not sure, Nikki. Maybe if you could send me a photo of you wearing one? ;)

No, seriously: that picture of the camisole looks too much like a slip. Maybe what I'm thinking of doesn't exist?

I know what a garter belt is, Bridget (hurumph!), and I'm not thinking of a garter belt. And a merry widow has boning in it, doesn't it? And laces up?

I'll check with Victoria's Secret. Somewhere is the underwear of my dreams.

So... you want me to cover up my breasts??

Let me try to find another pic... I love camisoles.

Structurally speaking, dm, it is in your dreams. If it has garters attached to it it has to either have boning or straps, or just go around the waist.

(thinking i should withhold my rose)

am i the only one who can see the good doctor starting up business checking out the kind of underwear women wear... stalking women in shopping malls... catching the escalator only to look upwards watching women walking past on the top floor... damn, smack me if there isn't a story in that.

That's the patented "Cosgrove Sock Holder-Upper and Boob Pusher-Outer." Available at fine upholstery shops everywhere.

Helpfully,

Ah, no Wildssweetone......

"am i the only one who can see the good doctor starting up business checking out the kind of underwear women wear... stalking women in shopping malls... catching the escalator only to look upwards watching women walking past on the top floor... "

I just got back from (K-Walmart) doing that myself........

I remain,

If that K-Walmart thing is anything like the K-Mart thing we have here, you'll be lucky if you found anything worth looking at. Over here the majority (now i'm in trouble) of women wandering around K-Mart are wearing sweatshirts and sweatpants. One hell of a stylish look that is. ...not...

Odd how I always feel a tad over dressed there... ;)

LOL.........Actually

I had a new story post this morning, "The day I became a woman", (no not what you're thinking), its a bit futuristic. LOL. By which time K-Mart & Wall Mart have merged. So maybe...in the year 2042, they actually have improved their product line?

Nah.....forget what I said.

I remain,

Actually I think it is a corset you're thinking of. There are several kinds that appear sheer even though they have ribbing. Here's a site Orchard Corset that has a lot of different styles and you might find what you need.

i saw it dear, plan on reading this one too!!! i noticed it wasn't 74 pages long! ;)

You don't have to thank me

but this is the lingerie site of champions. If you can't find something here, it doesn't exist.

Styles Fine Lingerie

And I'm pretty sure Dr. that what you're talking about is called a Merry Widow.

Angeline (who knows her lingerie)

I don't think they have to have boning in them (not goin low here math girl, lol). And the lace-up thingies are corsets.

Clearly, I know far, far less about women's lingerie than I thought.

What are basques and basquelets?
