Underage characters in the Non-Erotic category?

I know Lit has a very strict policy about under 18 characters in sexual situations, and I'm cool with that. Every erotic story I plan to write will stick to the rules.

But what if I wanted to submit some Non-Erotic stories with underage characters as the main players? I'll explain. I'm currently brainstorming/freewriting a novelette series about a 15-year-old boy who has to deal with problems that emerge from suddenly having superpowers. Most of the characters in the story are around his age. There's not going to be any explicit sex (it will either be implied or there'd be cutaways) but the characters tend to do other naughty things in the meantime, like smoking, underage drinking, stealing, and gang wars. Plus each installment will have plenty of violence!

When I discovered the Non-Erotic category, I thought about posting this story either here or on my personal blog, but again, I wasn't sure if it would fly on this site.

It all depends on what connections you make between the underaged and sexual acts. We have folks come on here and say, "But he only masturbated" or "he only got aroused by watching and thinking of others do it," both of which are sexual acts.

But the bigger question is why you need to post a story that ambitious in which you claim there will be no sex on an erotica story board even if it has a nonerotic section. This isn't where your target audience should be.

When I perused the Non Erotic section I saw all kinds of stories from all different types of genres, so I wasn't sure what was appropriate. But yeah, you're right. This probably isn't my target audience for this sort of thing.

Are there any good sci-fi/fantasy story submission sites similar to Lit?

You could try the story on Smashwords, they have all kinds of categories including kids' books although they also have a strict no underage sex rule.

I don't know about sf sites, but there's a site called StoriesSpace, a sister site of LushStories, which might take it. But I'm not sure what their rules are.

Any reference to sex in the story that contains characters that are under age will earn a rejection. You most likely would get rejected if an of age character is in a sexual situation in the presence of an under age character, openly or secretly observing the older character.

Any sex references would have been on a TV-PG level of innocence, but as mentioned, this is the wrong place for that story regardless of acceptability. If it's done it's gonna be a lengthy, multi-part, ongoing monstrosity with a lot of arcs, and I don't like the image of the alphabetized Non-erotic section being clogged up with 24+ episodes of the same story.

I kinda figured all that to begin with, but I have seen underaged characters in several Non-erotic stories. They always seem to be supporting rather than main characters, so just thought I'd ask.
