I've always been fascinated with songs performed and recorded by singers and groups other than the original artist. They use to have a negative connotation- that they couldn't write their own songs or trying to make some easy money. That's not true anymore. I like seeing different creative takes......some appeal and others fail miserably.

Post your favorite cover songs. Name the cover artist and original. Bonus points if you attach a You Tube video so we can give it a listen.

I'll start with perhaps the most famous in the rock and roll world-

Cover: All Along The Watchtower - Jim Hendrix

Original: Bob Dylan

They both died way too young.....58 for George and 41 for Jeff. Todd Rungren did a good job with that song as well.

true, but I've always loved the Jeff Healey version. He just puts so much soul in it :)

Great idea for a thread, even if nothing erotic about it.

In keeping with the 60's part of this thread, the first great cover that comes to my mind is:

Cover: "Woodstock" - Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TrWNTqbLFFE

Original: "Woodstock" - by Joni Mitchell https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cRjQCvfcXn0
{includes her telling the story of how this song came about}

I'm positive an erotic twist can be included.Back in the day there was a lot of sex and sharing partners. Graham Nash and Joni "colaborated" writing songs and sharing each other. I remember reading of a menage a trois with Rita Coolidge too. Free love added to the creative output.
