Under-cover cop has to sleep with target(s)?

After doing a little research on

on doing a little reading regarding this I found that No, US law enforcement officers are not allowed to sleep with their "marks" or informants, as this is considered an abuse of power and a violation of professional conduct and ethical codes. While guidelines can vary by agency, a fundamental principle across police forces is the prohibition of any sexual or inappropriate emotional relationship that exploits a position of authority with a member of the public.

However sex with a detainee is not illegal.
This is likely true, but you know it happens. An agent has to maintain their cover and if that means fucking someone, you can bet they do it. Especially if their life could be in danger if they are suspected.

So what happens if the undercover cop gets into a situation where she or he has to have sex to not raise suspicion? I would assume that could happen if you deep undercover and for years.

I have no idea I am just quoting what the law says an correcting a misconception

Maybe a bit different, but what if she goes undercover as a prostitute? The brothel could be a den for drugsdealing, human trafficing, maybe some of the prostitutes are illegal and forced into this work and exploited. She has to find out information about who is pulling the strings and collect evidence.
Of course she has to service clients.

The husband knows that she sometimes has sex as part of her cover, a couple of weeks into the assignment, he decides he wants to have sex as well, maybe she even said that he could to make it fair. He goes to a brothel and sits down, the girls introduce themselves one by one, and then his wife walks in, a bit shocked but of course she introduces herself as her cover.

He of course picks his wife and they have sex, in the room they can talk a bit since the rooms aren't bugged.
He returns nearly daily after this, until.. He asks for her cover name and is told she is already with another customer. His stomach drops, of course he knew that she had to see other's but having it so close by is a rough reality check. He picks a different girl and still manages to enjoy himself.

He keeps going often, one time the wife spots him walking in, happily she awaits to be called on, but to her shock, another prostitute is called on in stead. He picked another girl while she was available...
As she is working hard on her undercover job to earn good money, he is spending it by going to the brothel nearly daily and not even picking her to be with...

Drama, sex, tension, cheating(Sort of), criminals. I think like this it could make a great story.
Personally I don't think I have the writing skills to do it justice, but I would love reading something like this.
I remember the show Miami Vice had a situation where one of the female detectives was undercover as a prostitute. She gets into a situation where she has to sleep with the pimp or drug dealer or something. Of course there's not husband or anything like that. She eventually identifies herself to the man and tries to arrest him and he says she's just a whore and she responds by shooting him.

I can't help but think of a similar scenario where the female detective finds she kind of likes getting fucked rather than putting her life on the line being a cop. Perhaps she moonlights as a call girl, then eventually leaves the force. It could make for an interesting story, and heck, through in a husband just to add some additional drama.

I think you are confusing policy and Law.

Naturally, an undercover police officer could not have sex with a suspect in say a prostitute situation to see if they would have sex with them because that would be entrapment. Do that a few times and the undercover officer would find themselves Brady-Listed. The law in this case is not in having sex, that is a policy that prevents entrapment which is a law.

But it is not against the law outright because it has the potential to get an undercover officer killed. A situation might be, they are working on an undercover drug case and the king pin has a huge orgy, and if the officer refuses to have sex, it is going to be very clear only an undercover police officer would do that, his cover would be blown and he could be killed, so it is allowed.

The differences between the two cases is, one is an investigation where sex is the crime, and the other is investigating crimes outside of sex such as drugs, racketeering, etc.

Possibly.
