So as you all know I am currently working on HOT AND FUZZY which is based on HOT FUZZ.

This week I will be attempting to finish the story whilst in Wells, Somerset, which is the real-life town which Sandford, Gloucestershire is based on, which is where my fictional town of Forston, Somerset is based.

Anyone else got any Meta moments like that (make meta moments matter again).

Not sure about Meta moments, but I do like Wells - although, as born and bred Gloucestershire lad, that feels just a little disloyal. :)

Well don’t forget the creators placed Wells, Somerset IN Gloucestershire, so I’m assuming there’s affection there for both places.

Obviously after landing I immediately watched HF, making the day even more Meta.

Nearly all of my stories go slightly meta. One story cycle went completely meta, where a woman I spoke to in the street recognises herself in a story where the protagonist meets a woman in the street, and contacts the author. Who was the protagonist from the first story, but now the author. It's a story about writing fiction.

I wrote all of Coleoidphilia while having a sordid affair with an alien tentacle monster. That’s how come it is so realistic.

How's your collection of Japanese woodcut prints coming along? I think someone's already posted a link to The Fisherman's Wife, look it up.

Though my “wife” is of South Korean ancestry, not Japanese.

My meta moment happened just right now. And it gave me a jump scare.

Ethnically, I'm actually Korean from my mother's side, though she had been born and raised in Japan.

For the record, I don't have a thing for tentacles. But I am highly suggestible.

I didn’t think many people had a thing for tentacles but judging by @EmilyMiller’s success what the Hell do I know.

My Korean-American FMC is based on someone I knew at college 😊. With a little dash of k drama heroines added.

Well in Wells, make sure you get your self down into the cheddary plotline in the gorges and get you some wookey in your holes...

How is it pronounced? The late journalist Alexander Cockburn called himself "Coe-burn." I still don't envy what he must have endured while growing up.
I had schoolmates with the surnames Cockburn and Cockshott, with a silent CK in both cases. You would, wouldn't you? The one surnamed Badcock was pronounced as spelt, like other surnames ending in -cock. Less bad for a girl, but her little brother planned to change his name the minute he was old enough.

Then there was a guy called Gary Sandicock, known to all as Gary Grittywilly...

There was a guy in my high school from the House of Slutsky. If his last name bothered him, he hid it pretty well. Then there was a minor league baseball player, a young Black guy by the name of Ethan Fagget. He didn't have it pronounced as Fah-jay, either. The day I saw him play (it was some team in New Jersey), he hit a home run. It was if he was making up for lost time. "Yeah, all you bastards, take that!"

I swear this is true, even if the general internet wisdom says that if I do, I'm lying.

A guy at my first full time job had the surname "Glasscock", which he pronounced "Glasick".

He married a lady whose first name is Ophelia...

I worked with a Barbara Coxhead, yonks ago, pronounced Coshay. Barbara wasn't her first name, but I shouldn't embarrass her on Lit.
