When Women Wanted Sex Much More Than Men

In the 1600s, a man named James Mattock was expelled from the First Church of Boston. His crime? It wasn’t using lewd language or smiling on the sabbath or anything else that we might think the Puritans had disapproved of. Rather, James Mattock had refused to have sex with his wife for two years. Though Mattock’s community clearly saw his self-deprivation as improper, it is quite possible that they had his wife’s suffering in mind when they decided to shun him. The Puritans believed that sexual desire was a normal and natural part of human life for both men and women (as long as it was heterosexual and confined to marriage), but that women wanted and needed sex more than men. A man could choose to give up sex with relatively little trouble, but for a woman to be so deprived would be much more difficult for her.

Ah ha! 'Puritan Passion" is coming soon to a porn store near you!

Women Protest Naked to Wage War on Religion, Dictatorships and the Sex Industry
Known for its topless protesters, Femen is a worldwide movement against patriarchy. But are the activists’ breasts obscuring the message?

One day last summer, Inna Shevchenko went into a forest outside Kiev, to learn how to use a chainsaw. The lumberjacks who were instructing her couldn’t work out why she was so keen. “They thought I was just a crazy blonde,” she says, shaking her white curls. “I was acting like: ‘Oh really?’” She affects a coy, clueless demeanour. “‘That’s how you do it? Great!’”

The next day she went to a hilltop overlooking Kiev, and stripped to a pair of red denim shorts, worn with heavy boots, leather gloves, and a mask to protect her eyes. The Pussy Riot verdict was due that day, and in tribute to the Russian punk activists – and to mark her opposition to all religions – Inna proceeded to chop down a 13ft wooden cross that had been there since 2005. Despite her preparations, it wasn’t easy. “When I started to cut it, I thought, ‘it’s not possible to destroy it,’” she says. But after seven minutes it fell, and she posed against the stump for invited journalists. With “Free Riot” scrawled across her bare breasts, she held out her arms to mirror the figure of Christ now lying on the ground.

Now that's a Revolutionary!

There's a 30 foot tall monstrosity of of Mother Mary in Boston. I wonder if she takes requests?

Actually, she's in East Boston, Orient Heights.

Yes, I had to go there for a memorial mass for my sister in law back in September.

Wait, what's that God? You said in the ten commandments thou shalt not worship graven images?

Sorry, you're the last person the Catholics listen to.

Interesting thread. :)

Yeah, I think I made a mistake putting up the second story. The first was the most interesting. Now everyone is thinking about God!

I think horny women are a lot more fun. :rose:

lol I think both stories are interesting, especially the first..It's strange how the current crop of Puritans don't know their history.

I followed the link to the Alternet, and was confronted by a irremovable block
telling me to "tell the Supreme court that its time for marriage equality."

I have no qualms with the idea, but to make it un-erasable and thus ignored is unforgivable. What's worse is that I get dragged into an argument that is not my concern or interest.

I wanted to read about women being more interested in sex; not some political campaign.

Breast is always best, you heard it from the MILF ;).

The "Remove" button is fiendishly hidden isn't it? Try in the upper right, I think. Irritating Socialists!

So I guess you've never read Lysistrata, then? The ancient Greeks thought that women were more lustful than men, too. One of my favorite plays...

That cross-cutter story is pretty interesting, too.

There will be an 'X' usually in the upper right corner.

Thanks Stella.:rose::rose:

As I always say,"An experienced women is mighty handy."

That ought to help HP's writer's block. :D

When I read the article I thought it a mighty bunny.

"Passionate Puritans" or some such title where a puritan wife and tentative husband are coached by a midwife on Puritan Procreation Protocol on first night. "Remember, Sir, that it takes some practice, but if she reaches her (climax) several times before you give her the plunger of patrimony, your life will be sweeter, by the Grace of God." :)
