Basically, I want to start a thread based largely on the Ultima series of video games. If you are unfamiliar with at least one of them, then hit the Back button now; there's too much for me to explain without you knowing at least the basic story.

Regardless, the basic idea is that I and another person or two would each play one of the NPC's featured in Ultima 4: Quest of the Avatar (there's a list further down).

The main storyline is this: The avatar (who will be named Michael, after the archangel, for lack of an official name) has been a thorn in the side of evil for too long. As such, several demons collaborate and join forces in order to kill him. Despite thier best efforts, the avatar remains alive, though the demons have managed to take him captive. His friends, once they are aware of his condition, naturally attempt to help him.

The story will take place sometime between Ultima 5 and 6, and have a dark, gothic kind of feel to it.

This would be more of a chain story than a roleplay thread, and I'll need anybody who joins to be able to check the thread daily for updates.

The possible characters, thier class, and related virtues are:
Shamino/ Ranger/ Spirituality
Dupre/ Paladin/ Honor
Iolo/ Bard/ Compassion
Katrina/ Shepard/ Humility
Jaana/ Druid/ Justice
Mariah/ Mage/ Honesty
Geoff/ Fighter/ Valor
Julius/ Tinker (Smith)/ Sacrifice

You can also create your own character if you like, but they need to be one of the classes listed.

If you want to join, let me know.

Hehe I wouldnt mind joining though most of my knoledge of Ultima is from Ultima Online which takes place a LONG time after Ultima 4. I just got one question though, what about Lord British and Lord Blackthorn, Minax, and Mondain? All those are main charecters from UO so I'm not sure if they was there for Ultima 4. Other then that if ya can get this off the ground I'd love to play Dupre.

Okay, if you go here, you can get a ROM of pretty much any NES or SNES game you could want, and some emulators to play them on (I suggest NESten and SNES9XW). If you need help, you can find a guide here.

I have no knowledge about UO, since I've never played it.

Lord British is around. I don't know about Lord Blackthorne and Minax, though I believe they showed up in Ultima 5 (never played that one).

Mondain is around... sort of. You can find his skull (yes, skull) in Ultima 4, which is needed to open the gate to the Abyss. For this thread, I didn't really have him in mind, so just to keep things simple, he won't be back to life yet (or whatever happened to him).

I'll probably be playing Julius, and I'll see what I can do to get the main thread started soon.

Ok, I'll give this a shot...

I'll play either Maria or Jaana.

I would like to point out that the Tinker is Julia, not Julius, and is a woman. :)

Uhm... not sure where you got that, since I've played Ultima 4, and his name is Julius, and he is a man. He has a beard and male pattern baldness for God's sake.

I played all the Ultima games. But if you won't take my word for it:

Four separate FAQs or walkthroughs from three separate Web sites. If you and I have different visions of Britannia, it would get confusing. I'm not trying to be rude -- I'm trying to make sure we're on the same page.

Pretty much all the information I have was taken from the NES port of Ultima 4. In that version, the character is named Julius, and he is a man.

The guide found here backs me up on this.

Just for the sake of simplicity, Julius will remain male.

Also, I've never played any of the computer versions of the Ultima series.

Very well, then. Count me out. Looks like that Nintendo version made more changes than just Julia's sex. Spells and spell reagents don't seem to be quite the same either. Weird magic item names. No telling what else is different. Not only will the unknown differences cause confusion, but for me it just wouldn't feel right to write a story that is almost set in the Britannia I know.
