Good evening lovelies :rose:

Hope your Saturday has been great!

9 cocktails later and I am happily weary from a full day of socialising :D

Time to crawl back under my rock until next time (i think we agreed Durham )

Nine cocktails? NINE?! I hope they had those little umbrellas in with some fruit on the rim and a sparkler in each one? :D

Good morning, look at the state of the place, who left all these cocktail sticks strewn around?

:)

Sorry, that was me. I was up late last night and decided to make myself a cocktail...or seven.

*Shushes and goes to nap in the corner.*

Now where do you drink in durham?
Because we tried it once, lasted an hour and had to hop on a train back to town.
Curious minds and all that.....
(always looking for a new water-hole)

Hey Silver :)

The last time we were in Durham there were only two places that did real cocktails (all proper ingredients, no syrup based cheap ones) and that is the cocktail bar and i cannot remember the name of the other place (was studenty, off one of the cobbled streets). Fat buddha was great for cocktails but cant remember if they were real or syrup. The rest of the places were meh, big chains or a bit dive-y. Its not as good as York (the evil eye and lucias mmmhmm) and newcastle only offers the botanist for real cocktails. Most places only have 1-2 places where cocktails are as they should be. Too many bars going for cheap 2-4-1, which is why i can drink 9. Most are not potent at all. :rose:

See, now I know I'm lying because I've just remembered going to the Champagne bar in Durham. Is that what it's actually called? Cannae remember. But proper champagne cocktails - was ace.
I was totally legless. :D

I agree, they're just not the same in the majority of places. But the clientele in town of a Friday evening aren't really out looking for quality booze, are they? ;)

Ah yes, sorry - champagne bar, you are right (am not hungover, just tired lol). Ha, exactly - real cocktails are potent!
Nope they are not, they just want cheap and lots.
The three 'real' ones i had were Long island iced tea, moscow mule and a mai tai - yum!

I fucking love cocktails.
Nowt wrong with a cheap drink once in a while....you can always tell the difference, though. Went out on the last sunny day last year so we could sit outside and have a drink. Started off at the Pitcher and Piano then worked our way up.....BIG mistake. Once you've had half-decent stuff the rest doesn't quite cut it.

Morning, ladies :rose:

I always think it's better to start with the good stuff, actually. Then you don't notice quite as much that the later stuff isn't as good. ;)

Haha, yup. Last summer we hired a rowing boat in durham after a couple of drinks, it was a glorious day and it was a great way to chill between drinks (me being the tallest, strongest one of the group got the pleasure of doing most of the rowing haha). Almost had a Bridget Jones moment when one of my friends was too faffy trying to get out of the boat and almost fell in the river  (and she was 100% sober lol)

Good morning numeniusa :)

Absolutely agree! We started with two real and finished with one real, mmmm :D

Hi Numi :rose:
I know you're supposed to do that so that you can enjoy the good stuff properly.
But that first sip of something....later.....is just upsetting! lol

I did not know you could do that!
(adding that to my list) :D

Morning ladies. :)

How are we all, this bright Sunday? You all may think I'm weird.. but I can't wait for the weekend to be over. Monday to Thursday next week too. I'm going away for the weekend next week and I need it so much!

I hope each and every one of you has a lovely day.:rose:

Haha. Yeah. Just make sure you don't present 'under the influence' as obvs they wont let you hire one. It is right next to a pub on the riverside where -when it is a nice day- people are on the balcony drinking and watching. Of course, a group of women immediately causes groups of men to shout 'encouraging' things (so predictable and typical - sigh) but once around the corner it is lovely and peaceful :D
