Wolfie has explained the Pengy reference i see, so I shall explain the reason why you dont have an AV yet, you have to get to 102 posts to be able to have a pic there, then once you hit that figure you need to log out of lit, close the window you was viewing it in, then open a new window and log back into lit, then go to your user cp and et voila you can upload a picture, as long as it is smaller than 15kb or 150 by 150 pixels.
