U.S. Sen. Roland Burris

I didn't realize that the two had become this close. ;)

Burris is an embarrassment to the entire state. Kermit the Frog could beat him in next year's Democratic primary.

semihijack?

Apparently you can request "a blogo" on the barber's chair when describing what you want done to your hair, if you happen to be so inclined and so endowed.

So you can hide your own corrupt replacement up there or something?

You can't spend your way out of a recession and you cannot borrow yourself out of debt..

And yet, amazingly that is just what they are attempting to do.

You can't repair the giant hole in the GDP by letting the same assholes belly up to the same trough. Please check the economic history of the country prior to the New Deal and since, up to Regan. Feast and Fucked, Feast and Fucked, every 15 years. Kablooey.

Then someone says, wow, you have to actually mind the store. People aren't inherently better angels of discretion just because they have handfulls of money. Suddenly for about 40 years it doesn't happen and then people get really fucking greedy. Remember when you could be a bus driver and eventually own a house?

Actually nah, let's blame it on Carter's hyperactive fucking with the Fed rate. You gotta know when NOT to fuck with it too. Middle path and all that. Everyone still remembers how bad things were from overregulation that it set the sheep running the other way with no dog on the other side.

The boom and bust cycle speaks for itself.

I moved to a very progressively taxed state that was high in education, liveability, safety and all the kids really were above average. Kind of as close to Sweden as you get in the US outside VT, only we actually have an economy.

A couple years of Pawlenty and the no tax crusades and we are at average. And bridges fall on our heads, but just gouge smokers some more and leave everything as is, it's working SOOOO well. I could more or less move anywhere and get the same suck for the mileage now.

Actually, there's no way to get out of a recession without doing the former. Not on a national scale, anyway.

My objection to Reid Pelosi et al is the amazing job they're doing with moronic bits of legislation on piddly shit that doesn't increase consumer safety one speck - losing me completely as a small business and lover of organic/local - they're ignoring the average schmuck's disinterest in micromanagement as soundly as the republicans are stuck in their own echo chamber. And the level of personal aggrandizement. Being the worst of their party and when everyone throws tomatoes ignoring it.

Here's what I mean and my personal dog in the hunt. If I want to make and sell a child's sized necklace, prior to this, I could order parts from a domestic maker of brass in the US, who has MSDS sheets stating that the metal is <200 ppm pb and thus safe for human beings even lil ones.

Now thanks to these assholes and because we don't have the 'nads to tell China to shape up or fuck off, I, personally, have to test every single component of every single part order independently to the tune of about 100 bucks per part. I'm talking about things that my vendors have ALREADY TESTED. And if I sell out and re-order? Those parts need testing again. You never know.

I currently don't size or make anything for anyone under 12. How freaking stupid is this? China's still going to send its lead cookies.

Meanwhile, I shit you not, any gramma who sells a country themed bib at celery harvest fest BFE, NE - can be arrested for not testing each colorway of fabric.

Do I want regulation on lead in kids products? Absofuckinglutely. Do I want it to actually work? Yes. Does this? No.

Oh, before ya get too excited WD, the ONLY senator to reject this crap law at the time of its vote was Ron Paul. Republicans were asleep that day of being pro small business.

It's ok. I'm just worried about the cap and trade tax, the 10% sales tax and all the other taxes they come up with to pay for all this shit. And glad I quit smoking. The booze tax is probably next.

I'm not that worried. I'm still in a low enough bracket that none of this is skin off my ass. It's like literally a question of 60 bucks more for local schools or something. I'm not destitute, I live a very boring normal kind of existence and taxes are the least of my issues.

And before people go freaking out that everyone will be laying people off if you tax their 30,000 dollar fur or their 2 mil house I have strong doubts.
