It would be better to submit to his demands, up to and including sending a tribute mission to pay homage to Emperor Xi, than to take any slightest step down any path that might lead to war, including war we can win. Certainly the U.S. would win any war with China, but considering the cost, it would be better to surrender and let the PLA occupy Washington.
