Jimmy Carter certainly made his share of mistakes, but he also did some good. Overall, he's a lot better man by any metric than Trump ever could be in his wildest dreams. While I'm not a Christian, and frankly, neither is Trump by any definition that the evangelicals or Catholics or Mormons would use, Jimmy Carter exemplifies the kind of Christian who practices what he preaches. Which again, makes him a far better man than the likes of Trump. He has been a model of a former President for sure. Unlike Trump, a lot of people will actually mourn his passing.
In Trump's case, Sir Walter Scott's famous verse oft comes to mind.

Some time before E-Day, Biden should go to Plains and award Carter a Medal of Freedom, stating it is in recognition of (1) the Camp David accords and (2) his post-presidential humanitarian work. It would carry weight. Make the Democratic Party look like the party of kindness and decency.
