Two more of my big goldfish have died this week. I am a horrible person.

I have a growing pet cemetary (actaully its the mulch pile..the circle of life thing) in my back yard...I had both my Oscars die recently..

I don't know. I just know that they both got finrot, and I tried to cure it, and it failed and they died. Two different tanks too.

One of them was clearly predisposed to it. He had swimbladder obstruction, and he had become a 'sinker' and was bound to die, no matter what. He died today. I just found him. :(

Merrikech died on Saturday. She started floating all messed up, and got fin rot. I treated for the fin rot, and she just died anyway.

I am such a horrid person. Thier tanks are in my studio, so I can't go paint and just try and relax, when I am reminded of them so much.

I am so stupid for having feelings about fish.
I can't help it. They look at me all cute with their hungry little eyes and they gobble everything I give them, and then the swim around all happy and do flips and little cute shit in the water for me to watch. And they know that I like it. And they come up to me in the water and nuzzle against me when I have to get in the tank for something.

:(

I am sorry fishies. I am a bad mommy.

Not if it entails any of those christan propaganda cartoons you were big on for a bit. I know... I need a good laugh, but I am not really in the mood for that. I'd rip it all apart, with vengance and anger, and God doesn't want me to bring forth my wrath over idiots.

I lost 5 goldfish in one week.

I had had them for 2 years and it broke my heart.

I know what you are feeling.

LTR, I am sooooo sorry that happened to you. THat is so heart wrenching. I can say that I'd imagine that being worse than this.

See, If all my babies died at once, I'd prolly go into shock. :(

Starfish... I said it in my PM, and will say it here. Some threads start off tongue and cheek, I thought (incorrectly) your was. In short, no additional pain or sorrow was intended.

I apologize for my rude and uncalled for comment.

:rose: for your lose :)

Hey, those cartoons were cool. Still are.

Why not just forget about wrath and get some more fish?

Thank you for the very decent, and prompt apology. I appreciate it and it is all good.

This has been a very bad week so far. I am not going to make it worse and being spiteful or angry at anyone for something so small after such a nice apology.

I am not getting anymore pets. I don't deserve them. I don't take good enough care of them. I have too many pets. I am too sick to be taking care of all of these pets, and I am obviously not good enough at it to buy more.

FISH

introduced anything NEW lately??
check water temps and levals ;
check for slimm or other contaminates{ not those on LIT }
try ERYTHROMYCIN 200 mg -- 1 crushed tab per 10 gals.
repeat treatmeant in 24 HRS...follow instructions.
seperate fish in smaller treated tanks if you can..
if not ,then replace with 25% clean treated water .
GOOD LUCK.

Thank you concrete.

I appreciate it. I know all about biocontrol and what to do, but sometimes they just die. I am just persecuting myself over it.

The other fish in the community are fine. No new fish or plants have been introduced in over a year. Maybe what they need is more plants. Their plant population is hard to manage because they eat them so much, and I can appearantly only grow lysmachia and a few types of hygrophila without major loss.

We are talking about fish that are the size of my hand too, so they eat ALOT of plants if I put the kind they like in. I just try to feed them their regular diet so they don't grow too fast. Overfeeding can cause mutations and predisposition to disease and organ failure.

BUT, so many times plants emit alleopathic chemicals that can very much reduce the occurance of fungal rots.

I will have to make a trip to columbus very very soon and get more plants. and grow some extra in the now... empty tank that the fish that died today was in.

I've lost a long-loved finned friend too. I tell myself it was old age, but I really don't know why he died. It sounds like you're a better pet tender than I was.

Would it help if everyone called you Star from now on?

Would it help if you showed me your tits?

I usually think of goldfish as disposable pets but, by your posts, you were clearly attached to them. I am sorry for your loss.

IT seams that you have a clear grasp on the project ahead ..
things happen..
lost a few nice pair of breeding DISCUS once..
perhaps I was STOIC.....sorry, know the helpless feeling.

Plant some stuff.

If it fails, you won't feel near as bad.

If it grows, you'll feel like a god.

And then you can eat it.:D
