In a pseudo medieval fantasy-lite world, young woman Margaret grew up a tomboy in a god forgotten crumbling mountain castle of a small, poor county. Her mother had "found God" and all but fully retreated to a monastery repenting her youth sins... Margaret doesn't know anything about, but has some reasons to believe she may not even be a true daughter of her father, a distant sitting king's relative, who drank too much until he broke his neck falling from the horse during a hunt.
There's a king's sent regent ruling in Margaret's baby brother's name with abject disinterest, but in reality it had been years since Margaret had run day-to-day things, including even organizing a small war band on a campaign to wipe out highway robber's nest -- hey, someone had to do that. And it was actually she who was raising her brother Michael more than anyone else too, even if she's only recently approached majority herself, with all the problems that entail for a poor noble daughter. Including, shrugging off unwanted attention from said regent, and some others. Or not.
She also has a closely guarded secret: one of her nannies had been a witch, and she herself had discovered a magic talent she secretly practices. In this realm and age it's a likely death if caught in that, but one of her specialties is being especially sneaky.
[From here, it ended up to be a further 1670 world outline to where the title starts making sense]

Trying again for a super dense version...
In result of nobles deadly intrigues her brother by surprise inherent the kingdom, still a minor. She hardened his position, with some help from royal guard's captain. Then were forcefully married off to neighboring kingdom where her husband became king when his older brother and old king died in a war in the south. She then took over the army and won that war, learning there's more to come. Then, she scouted a pagan war band on a raid in north, and fell in love with their leader, who recognized her magic and on mutual agreement she let him to kidnap her. Turns out he was on quest to find a bride to be eligible to be elected king of a new tribes alliance, and he finds his quest to have been successfull.
Their honeymoon is cut a bit short by her brother's knights arriving with the requested ransom. For what she plans to thank her brother in person soon, but first have to visit her first husband because as long as she plays it right and her brother doesn't have legitimate heirs her yet unborn wizard son would have claim on all three kingdoms.
