Here the idea:

Two couples go away for the weekend to a luxery cabin one of the couples won in a silent auction. They are friends, get along well, but go back only a couple years and hade never gone away together before. Both couples seem to be at a low point in their relationships when they arrive at the cabin, such that they relish the time away from one another when opportunities arise to do things with the others spouse, like going for a walk, going to the store, out in the small boat, staying up late to watch a movie.

The cabin is large with multiple rooms and nooks for reading, quiet time, or rendezvous. Innocent flirting becomes more and more daring, each spouse going further and further, while the tension builds as suspicions grow that their spouse may be doing the same thing they are.

Does this have promise?

If the marriages are on a rocky road…then what..divorce? swapping or sharing is never healthy when a couple's marriage is on the rocks. so do they divorce and then hook up with the other spouse?

No, it is not healthy for their marriage. But it IS healthy for a good, hot, saucy piece of erotic fiction!

As Carnevil9 wrote, it is more about a means to a hot erotic story. But, for some level of believability, you make a good point....I would say it is not so much that the marriages are on the rocks as that the spouses were just annoyed with each other and open to spending time apart. The time apart leads to some flirting (and for a back story, there was an existing attraction between the couples and perhaps interest in swapping).

The culmination could be each of the couples confessing the flirtation and giving each other the permission to play. Though each spouse fooling around more brazenly until caught would be hotter! And because they were all doing it, once out in the open all are guilty and the story could move in a group direction.

Finally, on a dark night, husbandA convinces wifeB to grab a blanket and go with him to the beach for sex. They leave their clothes on the back porch. When they get to the beach, they find wifeA and husbandB already going at it. They can't deny they weren't going to do the same thing, they're nude.

that is true, I'm almost ready to send a wife-swap story to an editor...so hopefully will appear on the web site a week from saturday

maybe both couples have children, the sex has gotten stale, the distractions have made them strangers to one and other - not angry, just no longer close. this trip is their first time away without kids since the first was born...
