Here is another Christmas related question. I had a discussion recently with a friend who felt most people around the country eat ham as Christmas dinner. What do you say....Turkey, ham or whatever?

I always have roast turkey, filling, several types of potatoes and vegetables, bread and wines.

Yep, we have turkey too. Ham is usually served in New Year's Day.

for the most part it has always been turkey for thanks giving and christmas seeing as up here in canada they are far enough apart to have turkey at each and not get sick of eating it. but i can understand in the states with thanksgivng and christmas being so close together eating ham at christmas.

this christmas though i am splurging with hotdogs.

We always have both ham and turkey at Christmas and black eyed peas on New Year's Day.

Well, at the one grandma's we always had prime rib (damn I miss that woman! lol She sure could cook!), and at the other one's we'd have oyster stew. Yuckie. So, for the picky people, she'd make chili. Well, that still didn't help me any. lol So, for the REALLY picky people (me, an uncle, and a cousin) she's make chicken & stars soup. lol :D

usually we have either/or. Turkey always on Thanksgiving, sometimes we have Ham too... but this year we are having Ham at Christmas with Prime Rib. MMmmmmm

Turkey on Thanksgiving
Ham and Roast Beef on Christmas
Pork and Saurkraut on New Years
sorry but the pork and saurkraut is a PA dutch thing its considered good luck!!

Here in Denmark the traditional christmas dinner usually is:

Roast Pork and/or Duck
White potatoes
"Brown" potatoes. It's small boiled potatoes fried in sugar melted on a pan
½ peeled apples baked in the oven, with a bit of apple jelly in them
A sauce made on the juices from the meat
Thin Potatoe Chips heated in the oven

For dessert we get a kind of rice pudding, mixed with whipped cream, and some chopped almonds, and 1 whole almond. It's served with hot cherry sauce, and the one person that finds the almond, gets an "almond" gift.

Ohh I can't wait to get it again!! Yummy!!

Turkey, ham, standing rib roast, and several ducks, all served buffet style--

Well, for as long as I can remember, my family has 7 fish for christmas dinner, along with the traditional things, potatoes, bread stuffing, vegetables, breads, and lots of red wine. Just all prepared a little differently.

Turkey for Thanksgiving
Turkey & Ham for Christmas
Take out from Olive Garden for New Year's Eve

I hate black eyed peas, New Year's Day, we have pizza

Just go to Subway. The ham is made from turkey, the salami is made from turkey, the bologna is made from turkey, etc. For all I know, the tuna is made from turkey.

.... oh ....

Green Eggs and Ham. :)

Just to show how the other half do it...

Thanksgiving well it's an ordinary day over here.

Xmas. A boned out Goose, stuffed with a boned out Chicken, stuffed with a boned out Duck, stuffed with a boned out Pheasant (thats for the Adults to enjoy).
Turkey and Beef for those that want it (especialy the kids). Traditional Dry oak smoked Ham for all who have any room left (and for those little snacks between meals).

St Stephens (or Boxing day) December 26th.
Cold cuts of any of the above that are left, though in 4 years there has never been any of the Goose left by midnight on Xmas day.

Well lets see here, we start with ham........then add beer

then we have turkey..........add Liquor

then more ham.........add more beer and liquor.....

we follow that for a few rotations and I am not sure what comes next, usually ends up being rotations of liquor and beer and old jokes and then followed by sleep er......naps!!
