Tulsi Becomes an Independent

She didn't leave the Party, the Party 'Left' her. I've heard that somewhere before.

She literally made the announcement that she is leaving the party.

Hear whatever interpretation of that makes you happy.

Of course she did. She's been playing the "enlightened centrist" card from the left because Independents don't win.

Gone are the days where the Blue Dog Dems had real influence and would've given her legitimacy in the party. Republicans would've crucified her for being pro-choice and anti-War on Drugs. Now they just love having her on Fox News because she's an easy interview and it gives viewers and broadcasters a chance to pat themselves on the back for "reaching across the aisle".

The left let them know what they think of her during the Presidential Primary... She may run again, but her political career is over. Most people don't love her or hate her. That's what makes her unelectable. But an Independent pundit...? Solid strategy to build a podcast audience base.

Warmongers driven by wokeness? She needs to hone her messaging

Her domestic policy prescriptions during the 2020 campaign were very similar to policies advocated by other Democratic candidates such as Bernie and Warren as well as legislation that’s been passed during the Biden administration.

She's so out of step with the Democratic party ..lmao....¯\(°_o)/¯

Tulsi Gabbard and Nancy Pelosi are from the same party and agreed on 91 percent of votes in the 116th Congress (2019-20).

Summary of voting record: Representative Gabbard opposes big business, foreign and humanitarian aid, taxing the middle class, domestic surveillance and supports consumer protection, disaster relief, funding education, environmental protection, financial sector regulation, gun control, public health, humane immigration policy, labor rights and wages, lgbt rights, avoiding default, poverty amelioration, racial equality, increasing revenues, taxing the wealthy, a robust safety net, higher spending, women's rights.

Nah....but people need to understand...native Hawaiians although they vote Democratic, are not really Democratic. It is the first step towards independence. The exodus has begun.

Yes indeed, Tulsi, in the words of the MAGA evangelicals, "Don't let the door hit ya where the Good Lord split ya."

She was a DINO, AJ. "The Left" was never her jam.

She used to be a fairly conventional Democrat with a couple of quirks — she's always hated Muslims and gays, for example. But her voting record in the Obama years was pretty ordinary.

There's a certain personality type that supported Bernie in 2016 that absolutely could not deal with the perceived humiliation of losing to a "regular Democrat" like Hillary. Both of Sanders's runs for the White House have been followed by some of his most prominent spokespeople going hard right as a revenge reaction.

This is probably the beginning of the end of this clown, actually. "Even loyal lifelong Democrat Tulsi Gabbard is criticizing Joe Biden" is more useful for Fox than "Oh look, reactionary crank Tulsi Gabbard is being racist again." She'll fade into obscurity.

As several people on this thread have noted, her voting record and policy positions are have aligned closely with mainstream Democratic positions. It was only after she eviscerated Kamala Harris on the debate stage that she fell out of grace with the Democratic Party establishment. Her persistent reminders on Fox News of Hillary Clinton’s history hasn’t endeared her to the party brass either.

She left the party. The party didn't pull a Cheney.

Say what you will about Tulsi, she's the poster child for loose cannons and scatterbrain political hot takes, but her vicious beat down of Kamala Harris at the Presidential debates was unapologetic, laser focused, and epic. This kind of truthful political humiliation in a public forum is far too rare.

Rep. Tulsi Gabbard on Sen. Kamala Harris' time as prosecutor: "I'm concerned about this record of Senator Harris. She put over 1,500 people in jail for marijuana violations and laughed about it when she was asked if she ever smoked marijuana."

Again...I lived on the Big Island for several years...who else here has? Who else here have worked with any native Hawaiians? Who here has been invited to dinner? Who here has earned the trust to have their kids call you "Uncle"? You dumb fucks have no clue what you are talking about.

I liked her anti war message so I wish her the best of luck in the party that gave us the iraq war and the 20 year long occupation of Afghanistan.
