At the top left of the page, there's a link "User CP". Stands for Control Panel.

Click on it, to take you to pages which let you set stuff up about how you like to use Lit.

In the sidebar on the left, click "Edit options"

In the page that then displays, scroll to the "Messaging and Notification" section. Make sure the "Enable private messaging" box is checked, and the "Receive Private Messages only from buddies and moderators" box is NOT checked. The two boxes below can be checked to give you ways of being alerted when you have a PM.
