It seems that the Germans who effectively run the EU. Have decided that they can't sell the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership to the people. The British Government were, of course, fully in support of it but we might well be leaving the EU so we don't matter.

There should be much rejoicing on both sides of the Atlantic, since the only people who could have gained from the deal were large corporations.

Awwwwww....that sucks for the globalist and commies.

My heart breaks for them.

I see no sign of Germany having grown a spine. They will do as Washington commands, as always.

You obviously don't follow European Politics much. If you did you would have known about the street demonstrations against TTIP in France and Germany.

You obviously have trouble understanding the world around you.

Street demonstrations mean nothing to those in power.

Thank you for enlightening me. I thought those people in the street were the same people who vote in elections.

I thought that the reason both the U.S. and European governments tried to keep TTIP secret was because they thought the people might vote for the nationalists, still a strong possibility, if the people found out they had been sold down the river.

I see now that they kept it secret as some sort of game. Just a bit of fun like. "we've got a secret society and you don't know what we are doing, so there."

They weren't at all afraid that if it got out, the plans would be scuppered. It did get out and they have been, for now.

Now why on earth did they do tha, if the people men nothing. Perhaps they haven't realised that yet.

Because they learnt from GATT and the MAI.

Christ on a bike.

It's almost like you think you live in a real democracy. Look at the world around you.

Do you really think German business wants these anti-Russian sanctions? Of course not but they have them anyway.

Do you think the German people want US nukes and troops in their country? Of course not, but they are there anyway.

German politicians do what Washington demands. Period.

They couldn't give a toss because they go around them, mainly via Finland. They were doing all through the cold war, why stop now.

Yes, they do because they get paid for them being there. Every German's taxes are lower because of the US bases. Britain only pulled most of our troops out because we couldn't afford to pay Germany for the privilege of protecting them.

Wake up and look at the world around you.

Oh good lord. You clearly are unaware of how SoFs actually work.

Protecting them my arse. Occupying them.

You people are so credulous.

Extract from today's UK campaign email:

For over two years, 38 Degrees members have thrown everything at stopping this deal:

Hundreds of thousands of us added our names to gigantic EU-wide petitions against the deal - 718,636 of us, to be exact

Over 50,000 of us wrote into the EU consultation on TTIP - so many that we ended up crashing the EU’s website

38 Degrees members chipped in a grand total of £275,699 to spend on newspaper ads to raise awareness of TTIP. We plastered our message everywhere from the Telegraph to the Sunderland Echo

We sent almost a million emails to our MPs, MEPs, Members of the Scottish parliament and even to the President of the EU. In June last year, we persuaded over half our MEPs to vote against giving corporations the right to sue our government - one of the worst parts of the deal

Together, we raised £195,664 to pay for millions of leaflets telling the public about the dangers of TTIP

Two years ago this week, thousands of us went out across towns, villages and cities in England talking to members of the public about TTIP. Since then, we’ve taken to the streets with groups across the UK and Europe for four more days of action to spread the word about the dangers of TTIP

186,505 people have helped shape the 38 Degrees TTIP campaign, taking part in polls and surveys to make sure our plan to stop TTIP was as strong as possible

And 38 Degrees members raised £98,042 to donate to campaign groups across Europe to help them fight TTIP in their countries

We’ve almost won this battle. TTIP is on its last legs. But there are so many more fights ahead of us. Already, the EU is close to agreeing a similar dodgy deal with Canada (known as ‘CETA’) which could come into force before we leave the EU.
