TSCLT 7.0: Hemis, Harleys, Hooters-n-Harridans

I've never been to a Barrett-Jackson auction, but I would love to someday, even if everything there is FAR beyond my pay scale, lol...:)

I'd like to see them bring something like that back. Then again after the EPA and NTSB got done with it it'd probably be a dog.

Hmmm, maybe not. They let Ferdinand's successors continue to market their stuff here.

I remember reading an article about the late 30s Auto Union rear-engine race cars that kicked some serious ass. The war took them out, and the cars likely wound up in the USSR.

A buddy in high school had a '61 maroon ragtop. When it was running, it was a fun car. This was '73, I think.

He got tired of it and sold it and bought a '68 Fury I ex-cop car. Sedan. It fairly flew.

He also had the worst acne of nearly any guy I ever knew, poor bastard. I think that his zits had zits.

Pre Clearasil? ;):)

He likely needed a course of serious antibiotics.

His parents were low input types. Those kids kind of raised themselves.

His name was James . . . not Jim.

I'd like to do that, too.

I'd also like to go to Hershey and Carlisle.

I make do with the small meets from time to time, and I like the drags.

And now that bike stuff as all up in the way . . . . :D

Yes, that's what I was trying to express.

I have no issue with billionaires or corporations (Amazon, microsoft and google, and supermarket chains made life so much easier and cheaper for all of us).

I was focusing on the attitude of some of them, when it comes to customer service (like FB harvesting personal data while not giving a toss about exposing people to scams, or when people are knowingly exposed to toxins cause cheaper that way).

As I said, maybe not so clearly, if you don't like Facebook, don't use it.
It's called being informed. They expect most of their "clientele" to be blue pill takers and I'm not about to use the power of government to protect them from themselves no matter how hard they petition to be mindless wards of the state.
I've never used any social media because I never saw an upside to it.

Latchkey kids?

Kind of feral, in a way. The difference was, they had values. He and his brother got jobs at the earliest possible time and went to school and then went to work. They did well in school - not honor roll, but not just passing, either.

He went into TV repair. I wonder what that morphed into, or if it was like aspiring to be the village blacksmith.

I haven't thought about those guys since . . . the last time I was back in that town.

:(

What's there to repair anymore?

Most people just chuck them and go to the box store and grab the newest and more theater-like version.

I expect my next TV to require four installers.

And they say innovation destroys jobs... :D

No, no bad memories.

One just wonders sometimes what becomes of folks from Way Back When.

Thanks for making me think. Recall. Reminisce.

Where have all the flowers gone . . . ???

Don't forget the Scottsdale auctions. The original Batmobile brought $4.6 million at the B-J auction block this year.

True.

Best Buys "Geek Squad" came in and wall-mounted my new 32" bedroom TV not long ago.

For $90.00, it wasn't a bad deal. I think.

I'm trying to forget.

Problem is, I keep forgetting to buy lottery tickets.

I get that Allah doesn't want for me to have a Hemi 'Cuda after all.

And here I thought I was his favorite . . . . :(

I redid a wall mount for a friend a couple of years ago.

I took down the little platform gizmo I had put in back at the millennium for her old CRT TV and swapped it for a wall-hung flat screen arrangement.

The old one was bullet-proof, so I ain't worried about the new one's jumping off the wall.

Maybe I'll get a TV again one day . . . whenever . . . .

If it can be repaired there's an internet video for it.

If you can't find a video, call for a couple of quotes and prepare to sell a right arm, kidney or a newborn. They just don't do volume! Once you get the quote, you might as well be shopping for a new TV because you're going to be paying for one, 'cept one doesn't come with a warranty...

Color TVs cost a semester at college back once upon a time, if not a year.

Nowadays, they don't cost shit. Why not toss them and get a new one?

So, I finish one of these weasel tasks and I look at it and tell it, "fuck you!" I reckon it had it comin'. Doin' good ain't got no end . . . .

Off to torture more weasels . . . .

lusciousnet_shadows_1913342245.jpg

And we're paying for them in today's dollars!

It takes more than a fistful of the inflated and overprinted shit to buy anything.

It's like Monopoly Money. All you have to do is mortgage your soul before bankrupting it...

*grins* Makes sense to me, SC. :)

I bought a little 13" 720 tv from Amazon for my kitchen so i could watch the news before i go to work.

It cost me $99.00.

That's cheap, I think.

I'm in the market for a new weed eater. I'm leaning toward a Stihl, just because I have a Stihl chain saw that I use once a decade but it still starts first pull every time.

I got this Toro.

Huge-ass battery, but it holds its charge and recharges quickly.

Even with that, it's lighter still than a gas-powered. I have no complaints.
