The moral of the story is, stop getting stung, Allah damn it.

The fireworks are right down the street. It sounds like the opening day assault on Stalingrad. Oddly enough, Kitteh doesn't seem to care much.

Allah shed his grace on thee, and all that other stuff.

Of course, here in the west of the heart of Dixie part, it's not quite the same as elsewhere.

Slept in. Miserable night for fireworks; hot, humid, sweaty and infested with hungry bugs. Even the smoke wouldn't clear them out...

I took the small one on the light-rail to try to catch the ballgame and fireworks. First I kept getting blocked in by all kinds of police barricades just trying to find some place near the light rail to park to get on the light rail. That ate up about 45 minutes I finally got the car parked we got on the light rail. By the time we got to the ballpark it was already underway and predictably sold out. We hung around outside for when the fireworks were supposed to shoot off and they really didn't we finally gave up and got back on the light rail.

Something I used to do when the older kids were small was we would go up to the airport parking garage and you had a great view of the entire Valley and you could see fireworks 360° around you. I consider doing that and decided to the light rail would be a fun adventure. Ended up not being a good way to see fireworks but she loved the experience of being on the light rail.

Her biggest disappointment of not getting into the ballpark was she saw a nice long escalator and wanted to play on that but we couldn't of course go inside just to play on the escalator.

So I took her back to the airport and we played on the escalator there, to the bemusement of the cop who has a desk near the top of the escalator mostly to keep people from playing on the escalator.

To make people feel safe on the soon-to-be crime-ridden Light Rail they have it ultra bright inside which means you can't see outside which means you can't see anything going by figure out where your stops are or any other thing of relevance. We're going to have to try it again during the daytime.

We got in after midnight so she is sleeping in which means I get a nap, too.

I didn't shoot of my mortars because the mimosa tree has turned into a huge umbrella and I was afraid of a ricochet. Some of the smaller rockets got deflected...

You grow champagne brunch cocktails on a tree there?

Yep. There's a pink and white carpet covering a lot of the driveway.

Eight years ago it was a tiny sapling, now it's well over 50' tall and possibly that far across at the top...

96º now. Pool temp is 92º. I was able to clean it without being stung today. No fireworks material ended up it it for a change. Now I'm just trying to beat the heat and watch a little television. I need to do some dishes, but they haven't reached the top of the sink, so meh...

:D

... oh yeah, the highlight of the day! I nailed a tree rat. The current crop seems to be a bit dumber than the last one, they keep trying to hide on the wrong side of the tree. To make matters worse, they aren't of the grey color scheme, but a bunch of near gingers, so they really stand out.

Home from the job. The wire butchers have nearly hooked up the non-Hemi turbo/schmurbo generator.

While they were doing the exhaust, I told them they did so well that I'd hire them to put headers on the Chrysler. There was much commentary, but none caught the tongue bursting through my cheek. Silly fuckers.

I think that a nap is in order. Kitteh seems to agree.

As soon as he's done rearranging the hairs on his lower back.

Life is good.

I'm having some pizza delivered and then hoping to get up really early because I have shit to do before it hits 96º degrees again or the thunderstorms hit.

We're going to try to get a jump on it tomorrow to do the wee bit of outside shit we have left.

I'll play the role of the temp helper, I reckon.

I got 3 pairs of work gloves at Lowe's today. One to work in,

and two to take home to replace the worn-out shit I have there.

I have more work gloves than I will ever need because someone here cannot resist the words 'sale' or 'clearance.'

From The Guardian as an aside in an article about Amazon causing growing pains in Seattle:

“The increase in the cost of housing has exceeded the increase in wages,” she said. “When we were advocating for $15 an hour the idea was that everyone who lived in Seattle could afford to live here. Our housing market just skyrocketed.”

As if the two things are completely unrelated. This is why we can't have nice things- more than half the population doesn't understand the basics of economics.

Had a wonderful 4th of July watching the fireworks. It rained early, but it was over just in time for the vibrant light show.

Came back on Lit to see rightist bozos being well, rightist bozos.

It is what they do best!

So, just another day at the GB dump. Sixty year old men throwing out tantrums and insults like middle school brats. Not cute at all! Quite tragic, really.

*chuckle*

We kept saying, why not $20/h?

I had some burgers and fries from a place called Culvert's. First time.

It was almost as good as Wendy's.

Got up early to do some electrical work outside, but it's raining, so, I don;t think so...
