They say that it's all excellent there - catfish, cole slaw, and hush puppies.


This joint we went to yesterday has killer corn muffins. If the hush puppies are comparable . . . .


There's a trick to dropping hush puppy batter in so as not to get tails on them. So I've been told by a hush puppy maker, retired.


Maybe a bit tougher than Mickey Dee fries . . . .

Evening all, three day weekend ahead for me but I've been busy earning it.

I miss catfish, I miss good restaurants. This location has a lot going for it but most of the food joints are chains and fast food. I miss the mom and pop places.
 
Just got back from the catfish house. It was very good, much better than I expected.


We ate grilled shrimp appetizers and catfish platters. The slaw was excellent - like Killer. The hushpuppies were okay. I'm not a jalapeno-in-the-corn-batter fan. I couldn't quite finish my meal. Oh well.


My dinner companion is 5 feet, maybe, and 100 pounds, maybe - or littler on both counts - and she cleaned her plate. She was ready to explode when I took her home.

Way too many people, poor folks, dumping quarters into one-armed bandits. WTF??!?


The Harley thread is on past st000pid. Harleys this and Harleys that from folks who have never had their asses on one in anything but a dealership, if that.


Mine's a littler one - for the time being. It actually felt little last time I was on it. On it's road trip we took last I was home for a stretch and it didn't rain, it's got 60MPG calculated the old way - miles traveled on the odometer divided by gallons burned. At 4.5 gallons capacity, that's a lot of miles further capacity than my bladder, since I'm going to be drinking lots of water what with being outside the entire time. I was 5 weeks post-hip-surgery and was perfectly comfortable the entire distance. Walking upon dismount wasn't even a remote problem. And after having it for a year, I've done exactly zero repairs beyond routine maintenance. In short, it's one of the most dependable vehicles I've owned - ever - of any type.


Now, a WLA might cause trouble from time to time . . . . :rolleyes:

The thought of jalapeno in hush puppies offends me and this is from someone that adds chile to damn near everything I eat. (Although I admit I won't be doing chile and corn flakes again............ever.)
 
I know what you mean.

I like that it begins with people who have little or no economic acumen calling everyone who doesn't hate Trump stupid as well as accusing them of being economically illiterate. It's like any thread dealing with guns or abortion and it's just not worth the effort to try and get the Trump haters to understand the issues that drive business decisions.
