what's your biggest regret?

I was 17... and a family member I know started beating her young stepson... I had never grown up in that kind of situation... I stood there shocked... and in disbelief... trembling. I didn't know how to respond. I was frozen. I remember chasing her and witnessing her actions continue... I yelled for her to stop and it was like she didn't realize she'd done it... It did stop... I went home and told my mom... she went back to this person house and threatened her with the law... the child's father and her split up later...

My regret... I left... I left that little person with her... I still think of that and that is my biggest regret. Though I was only 17 a child myself... I will never leave a child like that again. I do not know where the young man is now... I regret never telling him I'm sorry and asking him for forgiveness... for I was weak.
