Truth or Dare

I need help! I was writing a story that involved the game " Truth or Dare " when I suddenly realized I don't know exactly how it's played. What I do know about it is that the person challenged has two options. If they choose " Truth " , they are required to answer a question as honestly and truthfully as possible. Choose " Dare " and they must perform a challenge as posed. What I need to know is ; how is the game moderated? Does one person choose whom will be challenged and who will challenge? Does the successfully challenged then become the challenger? Is there a right way to play the game or can it be modified to suit the circumstance? Can anyone help?

rules we used was the first one to mention
play the game went first, then the person
who was chosen went next when they had told a truth or done the dare, and so on until the game was over, hope this helps you

That sounds about right to me too Mensa. Everyone in the group can decide who wants to go first (or I suppose the one who mentioned the game), then the one who was just asked goes next adking someone else.

Thank you, Steve and Tiggs, that is most helpful. As a follow-up I'd like to know if there is only one right way to conduct the game or can it be adapted. The traditional method could be made to work for my purposes but I'd like to change it so one person is challenged more than the rest; is this possible? Or are the rules of the game rigid?

As far as I know, the rules have never been rigid. Like any game they are flexible and likely to be different from house to house. You know every family plays Monopoly with variances. It is always better to know the house rules before sitting down and playing any game. Esp. one that can lead the places I have seen Truth or Dare go.

Spin a bottle on a table and whoever it lands on first moderates. Whoever it lands on next has to do the truth or dare thing. If there're only two people, flick a coin or something.

Okay, my first true kiss...

It was the summer before my freshman year. was 14. I had had a crush on a guy named Eddie since I was 11. He was a year older than me. Anyway, it was summer and a very bad day. I was home alone when I discovered that my pet bunny (Oreo, she was a dutch rabbit) died. I was very attacted to that animal as any other kid would be attatched to a dog or cat, and I had her since I was 9. Naturally being a young girl I was crying for the most part of the day. At some point in time Eddie came over. I had stopped crying, but I still had red eyes, etc. He asked me what was wrong, etc. To make a long story short I cried on his shoulder as he held me in him arms (in my parents' garage). He kissed a tear that landed on my lips, and then kissed me a couple more times. No tongue, but still nice.
