There would be no comedy to please the Trump Base, if there is no victim
on the stage with The Star of the Show. Trumpypants gave his loyal
Trumpites fan service and thrills. Trump and the Innocent Chump!
The tech-bro writers outdid themselves. Revived old favorite comedy bit,
the passive aggressive handshake, and Trumpy forced the President of Finland,
to swat away Trump's hand after the president tried to grab and pat Sauli Niinistö's
knee. Why does any world leader accept an invitation to the White House ?
(Queen of England hosted the buffoon that behaves as if he is drunk.Thank
goodness, Elizabeth can excuse herself from the humiliation of being abused

If Trumpypants and the Trump Alliance cannot sandpaper the gloss
off of Biden's image, they will die trying. Any punching bag will do,
for Trump's loyal fan base.

Two Wild and Crazy Guys

The original two were part of a SNL skit.
Steve Martin and Dan Aykroyd portrayed an endearing
pair of immigrants from Czechoslovakia, formerly the
Czech Republic.

Wild and crazy is what Donald Trump and Rudy Giuliani have
brought to the White House, and our nation. Not meant to be
endearing.

Donald Trump promised to be so "presidential" that we would be bored.
He is a liar, so there is that.

"...when both Trump and Mike Pence backed out of attending Zelensky’s
inauguration, they sent Rick Perry to represent the team."

Barr blocked criminal investigation of whistleblower allegations
weeks before complaint was filed- CIA general counsel Courtney
Simmons Elwood, who was appointed to the role by Donald Trump,
did take action.

Rudy Giuliani

U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch was fired on the
basis of lies spread by Rudy Giuliani. Marie Yovanovitch was
dismissed from a career spanning decades for the crime of refusing
to engage in a phony scam being pushed by Trump and Giuliani.
What was Mike Pompeo's role ?

State Department Inspector General Steve Linick

On Wednesday, State Department Inspector General Steve Linick
called staffers from three House committees to return to Washington
and attend an urgent briefing. As the call came in the midst of an
impeachment proceeding, and following multiple explanations that
“urgent” as defined by the intelligence community means something
directly affecting national security, expectations were running high.
So even some of those who attended the briefing seemed to come
away confused when what Linick handed over was not another
whistleblower complaint, but a set of documents—some of them
appearing to be hand-lettered—that pushed a series of conspiracy
theories. The documents, described by Linick as propaganda, had
apparently been presented to the State Department by some outside
source. But what that source might be, and how the documents
were used, seemed a good deal less than clear.

A day later, the reason that Linick was so concerned about this
particular stack of faux-official reports is much more clear.
As CNN reports, this particular pile of trash had the same origin
as the rumors that appear to be driving Donald Trump’s actions—
they came from Rudy Giuliani.

Donald Trump has a significant conflict of interest in his dealings with Turkey.

But don’t take my word for it, take Trump’s.

"I have a little conflict of interest ‘cause I have a major, major building
in Istanbul,” Trump told Steve Bannon during a December 2015
interview on Breitbart’s radio show. “It’s a tremendously successful
job. It’s called Trump Towers — two towers, instead of one, not
the usual one, it’s two.”

-Eric Levitz
@EricLevitz

According to Trump’s financial disclosures, he has collected
between $3.2 million and $17 million in royalties from the
licensing deal since 2012. This means that Trump could
ostensibly lose millions of dollars, should Dogan terminate
their partnership.

http://nymag.com/intelligencer/2019...ria-conflict-of-interest-istanbul-towers.html

In June 2016, after Trump said he supported a ban on immigration
by people from countries he said were associated with Islamic terrorism —
he called them “terror countries” — Erdogan objected, and so did Dogan,
and both threatened to remove Trump’s name from the buildings.

… Less than a month after the threat to remove his name was made,
Trump very publicly voiced support for Erdogan when the Turkish
leader faced a coup attempt. And his closeness with Erdogan has
continued, even over the objections of some of Trump’s most
reliable supporters. For instance, in May 2017, when Erdogan
visited Washington, D.C., for a White House visit, Turkish agents
violently attacked protesters outside the Turkish ambassador’s residence —
shoving past local police officers to do so. Video showed Erdogan calmly
watching the attack from his car. Although the House of Representatives,
then under GOP control, voted 397-0 to condemn the attacks, Trump
refused to do so. A few months later, Trump praised Erdogan,
describing him as “a very good friend” and saying he gets
“very high marks” for the way he runs Turkey.

The recording taken by Bryan Frank shows one vehicle inching down
6th Street toward a mass of demonstrators, while others nearer to the
vehicle plead for it to stop. The driver ignores that command, and
continues moving forward slowly.

Frank, who says he was filming "out of fear they were going to run
down protesters," then turned to film a second car coming down the
same block. It quickly became apparent this car's occupants posed
a dual threat.

A man in the passenger seat is seen pointing his gun at people blocking
the vehicle's path, setting off a panic in nearby demonstrators.

Frank and others followed the vehicle, with its prominent "TRUMP"
bumper sticker on the back, and some yelled to alert others the man
inside was wielding a weapon. The car continued moving foward
slowly toward the sea of protesters, briefly disappears from view,
and eventually reappears driving away from the scene.

Trump blamed his Secretary of Energy Rick Perry for the whole

Presiderp Dick Cheese's lie-

“The only reason I made the call (Ukraine) was because Rick asked me to.”

There are texts exchanged among members of Trump’s crack team of inexperienced
would-be diplomats (Trump dumped all of Obama's real dipomats)
that show them pressuring Ukrainian officials for weeks in advance
of the call.

There are no mentions of natural gas in those texts, but there are plenty
of mentions of forcing Ukraine to announce an investigation into former
Vice President Joseph Biden.

Perry wasn’t calling Giuliani because of anything to do with natural gas,
or any other energy project.

Instead, Giuliani was there to pass along to Perry the same stack
of propaganda that he circulated to the State Department claiming
that Ukraine had somehow taken a role against Trump in 2016.
By which Giuliani doesn’t just mean that Ukrainian officials continued
to investigate and find corruption on the part of Trump’s campaign chair
Paul Manafort—including millions of dollars in under-the-table payments
that were subsequently confirmed and became a part of the charges that
landed Manafort in prison. Giuliani is pushing a conspiracy theory that
Ukraine worked with Hillary Clinton and the Democratic National
Committee to fake the whole Russia thing for … reasons.

On Thursday, a delegation led by Vice-President Mike Pence and Secretary
of State Mike Pompeo held meetings in Ankara. They had been given
contradictory messages about whether Turkish president Recep Erdogan
would meet with them — not something that normally happens to the
leaders of the world’s largest economy, greatest military power, and
biggest purveyor of weapons.

Erdogan did meet with Pence

Pence and Pompeo said that the goal of their travel to
Turkey was to arrange a cease-fire and an end to the Turkish military

(But the announcements to the press and media from Turkey did not
mean anything real.)

Taylor walked lawmakers through a series of conversations he
had with other U.S. diplomats who were trying to obtain what
one had called the “deliverable” of Ukrainian help investigating
Trump’s political rivals.

He told Taylor that Trump “did insist that President Zelensky
go to a microphone and say he is opening investigations of
Biden and 2016 election interference, and that President
Zelensky should want to do this himself,” Taylor said,
summarizing what he heard for lawmakers.

Taylor also told lawmakers that Sondland had explained that
Trump is a “businessman” and that when a businessman is
about to sign a check to someone he asks for what he is owed.
Taylor scoffed at the notion that Ukraine “owed” anything to
Trump.

After they hung up, Taylor sent Sondland a series of text messages
saying lay out his concerns about holding up the military aide.
That’s when he wrote that “I think it’s crazy to withhold security

As she was told to leave Ukraine, U.S. ambassador was honoring
anti-corruption activist who died after acid attack

January 15, 2020

Marie Yovanovitch, former U.S. ambassador to Ukraine, told
an impeachment hearing Friday that when she received a
phone call on April 25 telling her to leave Kyiv, she was
at that moment honoring a late anti-corruption activist
who had been attacked with acid.

Kateryna Handziuk, an anti-corruption activist in Ukraine,
was 33 when a man threw sulfuric acid on her in front of
her house in Kherson, a city in southern Ukraine, on July 31,
2018. She suffered burns over 30 percent of her body in the
attack and succumbed to her injuries on Nov. 4 of that year.

Yovanovitch warned Friday that the people who ordered the
killing had not been punished.

“Those who ordered this have not yet been apprehended,” she said.

Calls mount for investigation of possible surveillance on
Marie Yovanovitch

Messages released by the House committee between two associates
of Trump’s lawyer imply that the US ambassador to Ukraine was
being monitored

As of midday on Wednesday, the state department had yet to issue
a statement on the new revelations, and canceled two briefings to
Congress, one of them on diplomatic security.

“American diplomats should be supported,” Herbst said.

“Senior management at state should be concerned about morale …
management responsibility calls for a response.”

“A threat on a US ambassador ...
would be treated with the utmost urgency if it came from a foreign person,”
tweeted Dana Shell Smith, former ambassador to Qatar.
“But [attorney general William] Barr hasn’t opened an investigation
and [secretary of state] Pompeo, radio silence.”

The state department was due to brief congressional staffers from both
parties on diplomatic security on Wednesday, but abruptly canceled
on Tuesday afternoon.

The cancellation, first reported by Politico, came before the Parnas-Hyde
texts were published, according to a congressional aide.

“It’s outrageous that the [state department] cancelled the embassy security
briefing, just as our diplomats are facing serious dangers,” Engel tweeted.
“I want to see this briefing happen before the end of the week.”

The rare and bizarre ritual of marching the impeachment articles
from the House to the Senate

January 15, 2020

Half an hour before the parade was set to begin, Senate Majority Leader
Mitch McConnell’s office dispatched a rain cloud, telling reporters that
according to congressional rules the impeachment articles could not be
“formally” delivered until the following day.

Formal or not, Pelosi (Calif.) and an entourage of high-level Democrats
walked into the Rayburn Reception Room at 5:15 p.m. to find several
dozen photographers already thronging the impeachment articles,
which had been laid out on a table beside a sign that read
“#DEFENDOURDEMOCRACY.”

Pelosi sat down and signed the bill

(celebration pens!)

The procession began. House Clerk Cheryl L. Johnson carried
the articles out of the room and through the Capitol’s main corridor
alongside House Sergeant at Arms Paul Irving and followed by
seven impeachment managers Pelosi chose to prosecute the case
at trial. Directly behind her were House Intelligence Committee
Chairman Adam B. Schiff (D-Calif.) and House Judiciary
Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.), their faces
as impassive as the statues that flanked their route:
Rosa Parks and Chief Standing Bear and Alexander
Hamilton Stephens, vice president of the Confederacy.

Democrats got to walk the articles beneath the heavenly mural
of the Capitol dome on Wednesday, and straight into the Senate
Chamber, where Johnson, the House clerk, announced the coming
“impeachment trial of Donald John Trump,” and Senate President
Pro Tempore Charles E. Grassley (R-Iowa) replied in a deadpan tone:
“The message will be received.”
