The NY appeals court reduced Trump's 464 million bond to 175 milliion and gave him an extra 10 days to secure the bond.

They also stayed a lot of the lower court decision. Not all of it, the business overseer keeps her job, but most of the rest of the onerous stuff is gone.

I'm thinking that there are big problems with the judgement and the appeals courts is going to fix it.

There are no "big problems". This is simply a case of Trump favoritism.

But someone pointed out, is a fine and bail the same thing in this context?
A bail as high as what Engoron imposed is punishment as well. He did this to punish Donald Trump, wreck his life, and harm his family. This was a judicial mob hit.

I don't see how that establishes the fine as bail.

If the $464 million is a fine, then bail conditions don't apply I'd think.

Under NYC Bail Reform Law he shouldn't have had to pay any bail. This is a non-violent offense.
I always thought that bonds established in civil cases were a measure to protect the victims from flight risk.

For such a self professed rich guy, the loser can't afford to pay his bills.
Multi billionaires don't just leave stacks of hundreds of millions of dollars lying around doing nothing.

Their money is poured into assets like properties, businesses and investments which either retain or generate more value, and pulling it out in very short order is very difficult and very expensive. Something the kangaroo court and judge knew very well, since the goal is to damage Trump, not exercise actual justice.

Due process is an enigma to activists judges.

It was actually a bond for the following purposes:

  1. Security for Potential Judgment: The bond acts as a form of security to ensure that if the court ultimately rules against Trump, the funds are available to satisfy the judgment. It prevents him from dissipating his assets or transferring them elsewhere to avoid paying the judgment amount.
  2. Preventing Asset Disposal: By posting the bond, Trump commits a significant amount of money that cannot be easily accessed or moved. This prevents him from selling off valuable assets or hiding funds during the legal proceedings.
  3. Deterrent Effect: The substantial bond amount serves as a deterrent. If Trump were to lose the case, the financial consequences would be severe. It encourages him to take the proceedings seriously and comply with court orders.
  4. Level Playing Field: The bond ensures that both parties operate on a level playing field. It prevents Trump from gaining an unfair advantage by delaying payment or avoiding the judgment while the case is under appeal.

Recall this was a trial by a corrupt political judge who openly hated the defendant. This was a travesty of justice, but not below today's typical Democrat who are now operating on the Soviet model.

I always thought that bonds established in civil cases were a measure to protect the victims from flight risk.
In this case, it was allegedly to ensure the fine was paid if Trump lost the appeal. But we knew the amount was punitive as the amount was incurring $112,000 a day in interest.

The bond in this case is to prolong the drama as long as possible. The case will be closed on appeal. Just another smoke screen for the haters to whine about.

It’s a sad state of affairs that an individual has to pay for due process?

More citizens should read this before voting.

This term in its particular application means "that dominion which one man claims and exercises over the external things of the world, in exclusion of every other individual."

Wait until the corrupt orange traitor / fraudster can’t pay the $175 million either…

🤣

Side note:

The total fine wasn’t reduced.

👍

Meanwhile, the interest is still accruing, and the cost of the court appointed overseer and her team, as well as the cost of the corrupt orange traitor’s legal defense, is still coming out of the pockets of the corrupt orange traitor and the suckers who support that orange POS.

👍
