I was never worried Kim would nuke the US. I was worried he’d kill millions of South Koreans, which he can supposedly do in just a couple of hours after giving the order with how his conventional weapons are currently deployed.

I think the way the Beer Summit was promoted and conducted was mistaken because of how it gave the Kim regime legitimacy it did not have before.

And it wasn’t worthless. It produced hope. What it didn’t produce is any concrete commitments/results.

Yes I do. There was one document signed. As the only document, it contains the only obligations that Kim or Trump can attempt to hold the other to. Sure, there could be tacit agreements, but there’s nothing enforcing them, as there is no proof by which one side can hold the other accountable.

And here’s the document.

The only meaningful item in it is a promise for a US/DPRK Summit as soon as possible. And even that language is dubious.

The rest are promises to make future commitments, which are meaningless.

EDIT: Again, it was a Beer Summit, and what we got from it was hope. That’s not insignificant, considering both Kim and Trump were threatening to destroy each other’s countries just a few months ago.

Kim has agreed to nuclear disarmament. A program of sorts is being set up to look at N.K. nuclear power plants to determine weaponized capability of NK.

Best of all, the labor camps and NK gov't propaganda are being revealed. The NK citizens have to listen to bootleg shortwave radios to hear the results of this meeting.

The US is actually promising NK protection.

It's been a real tough situation for some time now. Trump has no political experience before POTUS. The man has had to make a lot of personal and professional changes as the LibDems keep trying to gut and.assault him. Here's the upshot. NK is currently quiet - no threats to nuke anyone, no ongoing nuke testing, no missile launches. Kim is talking instead of threatening. Russia and China aren't making overt threats to support NK against the US. We have a signed document that may possibly lead to further developments toward peace.

You know what it took to get that? Not money, bribes, promises for lifting sanctions, or anything else. It took 2 guys sitting down at the same table for an hour.

And the Progressives are howling about that too.

Nothing more may come of the whole thing. We may even revert back to the way things were 6 months ago. Or worse. BUT, at this point things are quiet. As long as you stop listening to the Progressives howl that is.

You forget, or don't know, that Pompeo and American officials have been engaged in continuous negotiations with Kim's staff people ironing out dozens of details including the meeting itself and the details of the disarmament schedule, which he announced today, among other things.
