Trump Supporters Ludicrously Claim He Would've Been Tougher on Putin

Pecksniff tries out another line of leftwing bullshit, when the established facts are Trump "WAS" tough on Putin and Biden was weak on Putin until shamed into sanctioning him.

Nobody's been tougher on Russia than Trump. After all, he substituted Costco sparkling wine for real Champaign when "his people" met with Russian diplomats.

I see today in the newspaper that his follower Candace Owens is calling Zelenski a "thug" for not giving in to Putin's genocidal invasion. Just think of how differently this invasion would have been handled with the twice-impeached former President at the helm of the U.S.

Owens criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, stating in a tweet Thursday that he is "a very bad character who is working with globalists against the interests of his own people."

"I will not move one inch away from that assessment—ever—no matter how flowery the media depictions of him are," Owens added.
looks like carlson's been reined in a tad, announcing in 'a more somber term' that putin is doing bad stuff (coming after the blowup about the kremlin's note to russian state tv about using clips), and now the useful idiot owens is the shiny one for now

The trump administration adults in the room were fairly tough on Putin. Trump himself had to be dragged through a knothole backwards before he relented.

Hahaha....yep!

No he wasn't.

He weakened NATO by saying it was obsolete and hunting that he wanted to pull out of it which shows just how stupid Trump was.

He also wanted Russia back in the G8 which signals that Russia wouldn't be held accountable for taking Crimea.

Trump was a gift to Putin as he did his work for him.

I’m sure Putin appreciated how Trump got NATO members to step up to their defense spending obligations.

Trump proved he was an espionage asset of Vladimir Putin and would do anything Putin wanted. This was pinned down when Putin was caught offering bounties on the heads of American soldiers in Afghanistan and Trump did nothing--well, he was busy at the time stealing money from vets by running a charity event for them and pocketing the contributions.

Define "Being Tough on Putin." How was he "tough on Putin?" By kissing his ass? paying him compliments? Doing whatever he wanted? Trump was Putin's puppet, basically. Far from being "Terrified of him" Putin played him like a fool.

People criticize Biden for not being tough on Putin after the invasion of Ukraine. Biden did at least condemn the invasion and slap sanctions on Russia.

Trump on the other hand would not even have done that much. In all likelihood, he would have probably even given Putin a thumbs up for the invasion.

This is a really stupid conversation, frankly. I mean, Trump would probably pay Putin with American tax dollars to invade and conquer Alaska and you people would say "it's the Democrats fault," or "Alaska deserved to be invaded anyway because of all the liberals who live there, and so this was a brilliant move on Trump's part." Seriously. Grow some patriotic wisdom here, people.

See post 13.
In 2014, Obama declined to provide lethal aid, overruling most of his national security team. Trump approved the sale of $47 million worth of 210 Javelin missiles and 37 launchers to Ukraine in December 2017 which were delivered in April the following year.

Trump’s scolding of delinquent NATO contributions is well documented, and there is no question it had an impact. As NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said in December 2019:

“It's correct that we have now agreed a new formula for sharing those costs. The U.S. will pay less. Germany will pay more.”

This was almost certainly motivated by Trump’s brow beating and by concerns that that he would move US troops out of Germany to countries closer to the Russian border.

Obama sent lethal aid to Ukraine in 2016. Look it up.

Just now? Not all these years when they've seen him as the victim of bullying, or when they believed he was a successful self-made billionaire, or when they thought he won in 2020?
I keep hoping that there will come a point when their reality is reality

Putin was terrified of Trump. One day soon Trump will tell us what he said to Putin.
Putin was never scared of Trump. Trump was and still is owned by Putin. Trump has twice asked for Putin's aid in his re-election bids. Trump did his best to aid Putin with his invasion of the Ukraine by trying to withhold Senate approved military aid to the Ukraine. This stunt got Trump impeached once. Trump is seditious traitor to our Constitution and to Democracy.
