Ukrainians can’t even vote for a new leader much less banning a religious organization.

Do you have any evidence to support your claim this move was made diplomatically by the people of Ukraine?

That could be significant . . . I've always dismissed Samuel Huntington's "Clash of Civilizations" theory, but he might have had a point about Ukraine having a divided culture -- Western Ukraine being Catholic and Western-oriented, Eastern Ukraine being Orthodox and aligned with Russia.
