Trump praises and encourages acts of violence

With no winner in the 2020 race and votes still being counted in several battleground states, President Trump entered the East Room of the White House at 2:21 a.m. on Wednesday and asserted without evidence that the election was being taken from him by "a very sad group of people."

"As far as I am concerned," the president declared, "we already have won it."

The problem, of course, is that reality is indifferent to Trump's "concerns" -- and the evidence does not show that he's "already won" the race.

Indeed, the president's remarks featured one false claim after another. Trump said people were trying to "disenfranchise" his supporters, but he didn't say how, and the very idea is ridiculous. Trump listed a series of states that he claimed to be winning, none of which have been called, and some of which he may yet lose.

He equated counting votes with perpetrating a "fraud." He suggested vote-counting should continue, but only in states he thinks he might win. In states where he might lose, he wants the vote counting to stop immediately.

Trump is obviously laying the groundwork to incite his followers to violence when he loses.

Brace yourselves. This is going to get ugly.

Yeah, that was a very irresponsible thing to do; very much akin to screaming “FIRE!” in a crowded theater. I hope that he is charged for inciting violence if any of his goon squads actually starts shooting people. I would hope that might be the final straw that would peel away substantial chunks of his remains defenders in the Republican Party. He remains a substantial threat to our national security so long as he keeps spouting that kind of shit, time to start holding him legally accountable for it.

One of Trump's top advisors accused of ‘inciting violence’ after calling for Michigan to ‘rise up’ against Whitmer’s new order

President Donald Trump’s top coronavirus advisor, Dr. Scott Atlas, is being accused of sedition and inciting violence by calling for Michigan to “rise up” after Democratic Governor Gretchen Whitmer issued new orders to fight the coronavirus pandemic.

Last month 14 people were charged in an alleged domestic terror plot to kidnap Governor Whitmer. Some reportedly also had a plan to “overthrow” the government, and some allegedly had “made plans to kidnap Whitmer and commit violence with the hopes of sparking a ‘civil war,'”

Back in May another man was charged with “credible threats to kill” Gov. Whitmer.

Dr. Atlas is currently serving as a senior fellow at Stanford University’s Hoover Institution, which is headed by former U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.

Michigan’s Governor Whitmer Sunday night quickly pushed back against Atlas’s transparent attempts at what some are calling an attempt to incite violence (something First Daughter Ivanka Trump was also accused of attempting to do Sunday.)

God has a way of sorting out these types of megalomaniacs.

History has shown these types fall HARD with time.

He will meet his karma one day, New York will get his ass and his humiliation will be a thing to watch.

Violence breaks out after nightfall in D.C. as MAGA marchers bring thug tactics to the capital

Following Saturday’s “Million MAGA March” featuring thousands of far-right extremists commingling with ordinary Donald Trump supporters as they marched to proclaim (with only conspiracy theories for evidence) that Trump and not Joe Biden had won the presidential election, the large contingent of hate-group street-brawlers—Proud Boys, American Guard, Oath Keepers, and Groypers—took to the streets of Washington, D.C., provoking fights and aggressively assaulting counter-protesters.

This is a well-established pattern, one we have seen evolving and being perfected by the radical right since early 2017—primarily in liberal urban centers such as Portland, Oregon; Seattle; and the Bay Area. The politics of violent confrontation this strategy manifests may have reached a kind of dark fruition on Saturday, with a large helping hand from Trump himself, who tweeted out encouragement to the same thugs he had told on national television to “stand back and stand by.”

The violence was not pronounced during the daytime at the event, despite some fighting that broke out between anti-Trump protesters and rally participants. However, after most of the rally—estimated to have numbered in the tens of thousands—had cleared away by evening, large clusters of Proud Boys and other violent pro-Trump brawlers took to the streets of downtown Washington and began engaging in a variety of forms of violence: punching, shoving, kicking, and stabbing protesters, even as Metro Police devoted most of their energy to restraining the anti-Trump bloc.

According to the Washington Post, some 20 people were arrested, including four people on gun charges. At least one person who was stabbed was hospitalized in serious condition.

Trump himself made clear on Twitter his view of the violence:

ANTIFA SCUM ran for the hills today when they tried attacking the people at the Trump Rally, because those people aggressively fought back. Antifa waited until tonight, when 99% were gone, to attack innocent #MAGA People. DC Police, get going — do your job and don’t hold back!!!

Trump’s narrative—and that of Trump supporters both online and at the rally—reflected the right’s long-running attempt to deflect and excuse its own violence by claiming that “the violent left” is responsible for inciting it all. It’s a profoundly eliminationist narrative, and that tendency was omnipresent throughout the “Million MAGA March,” with threats to kill or deport all their political opponents a common refrain, as well as the reflexive dehumanization of their foes as verminous threats—with Trump’s description of antifascists as “scum” leading the parade.

Trump bolstered this narrative by retweeting a video posted by right-wing pseudo-journalist Andy Ngo, showing a Trump supporter being knocked out from behind by an antifascist protester. “Human Radical Left garbage did this,” Trump wrote. “Being arrested now!”

In reality, Ngo’s video was simply another of his selectively edited hit jobs designed to demonize antifascists. A full video of the incident clearly shows that the man initiated the violence by punching and shoving a protester who had been using a bullhorn, then brawling with a number of other protesters, before he was finally given a knockout sucker punch.

Trump mostly encourages right-wing violence for the same reason he does anything: He thinks it may benefit him personally. It boosted his ego to believe people would risk injury, death or prison out of loyalty to him, and he obviously hoped a right-wing army would rise up to keep him in office after the voters threw him out. (That didn't happen, thankfully, probably because most Trump supporters are too old and comfortable to go full Rittenhouse.) When a group of would-be terrorists plotted to kidnap Michigan's Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, and likely to murder her, Trump made sure to express his delight in public, seeing the plot as a personal tribute.

This newfound enthusiasm for violence is bound to outlast Trump, whose impotent coup attempt won't prevent his eviction from the White House on Jan. 20.

Trump himself has been hiding out at the golf course since his electoral defeat, but his followers continue to promote violence against anyone who opposes their fascistic fantasies.

A top Republican election official in Georgia lashed out at President Trump, blaming Trump for a flood of threats that have besieged his office and calling on the president and other Republicans to condemn the behavior.

Gabriel Sterling has accused Trump of inciting violence and insists that "Someone's going to get killed" as a result of Trump's incitement .

Trump's allies are growing increasingly dangerous and calling for violence as his coup attempt drags on

Although the results of the 2020 presidential election have been certified in Pennsylvania, Arizona, Georgia and other battleground states, President Donald Trump continues to push the debunked idea that he was victim of a voter fraud conspiracy. Trump obviously has no intention of acknowledging Joe Biden as president-elect, and some of his far-right allies are sounding increasingly unhinged in their rhetoric. Trump lawyer Joe diGenova has called for the execution of former Homeland Security official Chris Krebs — although diGenova has said he was merely being rhetorical — and Georgia-based attorney Lin Wood believes that Trump should fight the election results by declaring martial law.

Krebs, who specialized in cybersecurity at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security before Trump fired him, emphatically rejected the president's claims of fraud and has made it clear that he believes Biden won the election fair and square. Krebs, in fact, described the 2020 election as the "most secure in United States history."

Appearing on Howard Carr's talk radio show (which simulcasts on Newsmax), diGenova declared, "Anybody who thinks the election went well, like that idiot Krebs who used to be the head of cybersecurity — that guy is a class-A moron. He should be drawn and quartered. Taken out at dawn and shot."

These comments were similar to those made by Steve Bannon, who recently said Dr. Anthony Fauci and FBI Director Christopher Wray should be beheaded.

There are so many parallels between Cult-45 and ISIS, but the essence is that both rely upon the perversion of a major religion.

Trump validates the irrational hatreds and fears of America’s extremists. Trump even promotes conspiracy theories to rile them up and urge them into greater acts of violence and recklessness. Trump’s dangerously irresponsible rhetoric has served to incite those who have taken Trump’s words as a sort of permission to do what they’re doing.

Trump has a talent when it comes to triggering right-wing extremists and his accomplices over at Fox “news” give him a bullhorn through which through which he can reach millions of extremists and trigger as many of them as possible.

Trump praises and encourages acts of violence and domestic terrorism in the United States of America. Why has he not been arrested and charged for this? Are we seriously saying that Trump is somehow above the law and that he can seriously commit any crime he wants without facing any legal consequences whatsoever?

It's not just Trump. Inciting violence has become standard operating procedure among Republicans since 2016.

Joe diGenova is one of Trump's lawyers. Joe went "The Howie Carr Show" and said that Chris Krebs former cybersecurity chief, should be "drawn and quartered". He also said that Krebs shout be shot.

This is a textbook example of inciting violence. I hope to see legal action taken against diGenova soon.

A nationwide review conducted by ABC News has identified at least 54 criminal cases where Trump was invoked in direct connection with violent acts, threats of violence or allegations of assault.

After a Latino gas station attendant in Gainesville, Florida, was suddenly punched in the head by a white man, the victim could be heard on surveillance camera recounting the attacker’s own words: “He said, ‘This is for Trump.'" Charges were filed but the victim stopped pursuing them.

When police questioned a Washington state man about his threats to kill a local Syrian-born man, the suspect told police he wanted the victim to "get out of my country," adding, "That’s why I like Trump."

Reviewing police reports and court records, ABC News found that in at least 12 cases perpetrators hailed Trump in the midst or immediate aftermath of physically assaulting innocent victims. In another 18 cases, perpetrators cheered or defended Trump while taunting or threatening others. And in another 10 cases, Trump and his rhetoric were cited in court to explain a defendant's violent or threatening behavior.

Trump is very clearly inciting violence and I for one will be interested to see if he's ever charged.

Excuse me, how many Trump supporters get assaulted at Trump rallies or just riding their bikes or walking down the street? Would you wear a MAGA hat in NYC?

Which is the party of violence? Just check all the inner cities that boarded up their windows - but then took them down when Biden looks like the winner.

Hmmm - Trump incites violence while the leftists burn down, loot, and shoot their way through most major democrat cities - and most if not all dems condoned it by keeping silent.

Oh, the hypocrisy.

First of all, you're responding to a post that provided specific examples and numbers from a reputable source, and you offer nothing of the sort. Secondly, I doubt too many Trump supporters got assaulted at Trump rallies.

To answer your question, I wouldn't wear a MAGA hat anywhere. If I saw someone wearing one in NYC, I would most likely just steer clear of hir. On a similar note, how would you react to someone walking down your street wearing a hat with a swastika on it?

There is no difference between a MAGA hat or a swastika. Both are representative of the Fascist party.

My point exactly. If I see either, I'm not going to attack the wearer, because I figure that's just sinking to their level.

Very quick answers:
-none
-no I would NEVER were a BIGOT hat anywhere
-That would be the Republican Party
-the violent unrest in our cities has come from multiple sources (don’t forget that punk kid shooting multiple people in Kenosha!)
-nearly every Democrat I know is appalled at the senselessness of the violence and looting taking place, and we blame all the idiots who are exacerbating it.
-the only remotely “left wing” elements in this would be antifa, which wouldn’t even exist if not for all the bat shit crazy right wing militant groups who have been violently attacking these same cities FOR YEARS!

Where is your condemnation of those groups? What’s that about hypocrisy?

Trump is a corrupt, criminal, racist, sexual predatory, totally incompetent, murdering, treasonous con man. He needs to be in the mental ward of a prison.

He cheats at golf too.

Dozens of armed people gathered outside Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson's home over the weekend "shouting obscenities" and threatening violence in an effort to overturn the presidential election results in the state, she said Sunday.

Benson and her 4-year-old son had just finished decorating their home for Christmas and were about to watch "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" when the group arrived, she said in a statement.

"The demands made outside my home were unambiguous, loud and threatening," she said. "They targeted me in my role as Michigan's Chief Election Officer.

"Through threats of violence, intimidation and bullying, the armed people outside my home and their political allies seek to undermine and silence the will and voices of every voter in this state, no matter who they voted for," she said.

Gabriel Sterling, a top Republican elections official in Georgia, said last week that President Donald Trump's repeated false claims that the election was stolen from him had led to death threats, intimidation and harassment.

Trump has engaged in fear-mongering, hate mongering and spreading conspiracy theories. Of course Fox "news" Channel and Rush Limbaugh shamelessly aided and abetted him. As a result domestic terrorism is way up and we've got Americans who are sending death threats to government officials, terrorizing government officials, attempting to forced political candidates off the road and plotting to kidnap and execute governors.

Trump was never president, he never wanted the job, he never wanted to act like an adult. Instead he spent years inciting violence and validating the irrational hatreds and fears of America's most poorly educated. He's set American against American and done everything he can to sow division, chaos and bloodshed.

The chairman of the white nationalist Proud Boys group, a convicted felon, posted photos from inside the White House gates ahead of a violent pro-Trump rally in Washington DC on Saturday, raising new questions about the president's apparent embrace of the right-wing agitators.

The group has held rallies where hundreds of members attended, many of them armed. However, its chairman, Tarrio, cannot legally own a gun, because he is a convicted felon. He often appears in photographs wearing a tactical vest with a fruit-flavored malted alcoholic beverage tucked into a front pocket.

The Proud Boys also have ties to longtime Trump associate and convicted felon Roger Stone, and they are open about its support for the outgoing president. Another leader, Joe Biggs, boasted last year that he was having dinner with Trump at the president's D.C. hotel, and shared a picture of himself seated beside Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C. Trump's official schedule that evening included "remarks at a fundraising committee reception" at Trump International Hotel at 8:00 PM.

Tarrio's Saturday visit coincided with a rally in the nation's capital where thousands of right-wing protesters, including several hundred Proud Boys, a number of them dressed in tactical vests and fatigues, took to the streets to protest Trump's election defeat.

This January, Tarrio launched his ill-fated congressional campaign with a launch party at Trump National Doral in Miami on Jan. 25. (Tarrio had to accept Roger Stone's endorsement in absentia that evening, as the Trump confidant had been arrested that morning.

Trump praises and encourages acts of violence

Domestic terrorist Cesar Sayoc mailed pipe bombs to Congresswoman Maxine Waters, Senator Kamala Harris, former U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, actor Robert De Niro, former U.S. President Barack Obama, former U.S. Vice President Joe Biden, U.S. Senator and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton as well as other public figures who have been critical of Donald Trump.

Much more recently, a group of right-wing terrorists who call themselves the Wolverine Watchmen plotted to kidnap Governor Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan and ignite a “civil war”.

And more recently still, a group of armed criminals stalked a campaign bus that was in Texas to promote Joseph Biden’s candidacy. They used pickup trucks to box in the campaign bus and tried to force it off the road. They also rammed an SUV that was traveling with the campaign bus.

All of these incidents have at least one thing in common. Trump has repeatedly and publicly attacked the victims of these crimes, calling them things like “crooked” “tyrant”, “human scum”, and “an enemy of the American People.”

Trump refuses to condemn hate groups and domestic terrorists like the ones listed above and instead encourages them, like when he tweeted, “I LOVE TEXAS” after armed criminals in Texas attempted to force the Biden bus off the road.

America has always had racists, theocrats and right-wing extremists. Trump uses incendiary rhetoric and posturing to incite these people and trigger them into committing acts of violence and terror.

Are we seriously saying that Trump is somehow above the law and that he can seriously commit any crime he wants without facing any legal consequences whatsoever?

Trump has spent years pushing the narrative that racists, white supremacists and right-wing bullies are the "real Americans" and that African Americans, Latinos, Kurds, Syrian refugees and other dark-skinned people are "animals" and "invaders', who don't belong in America.

Trump has chronically worked up the racists, the xenophobes, the white supremacists and the hooligans in this country and incited them to violence. He validated their irrational hatreds and made them feel invincible and above the law.

I've been pointing this out for years, but recently a Trump supporter graphically proved my point far better than I ever could.

After storming the Capitol Building, looting, terrorizing the building occupants and busting up the place, dozens of Trump supporters were SHOCKED when riot police showed up and used tear gas and flash-bang grenades to quell the riot.

"This is not America," one of the rioters whined, "They're shooting at us. They're supposed to shoot BLM, but they're shooting at patriots!"

This is what Trump created, a large segment of the population who have no respect for the rule of law, but rather believe in white people using brute force and murder to oppress people of color. Trump's whole, "Make America Great Again", was thinly veiled code for, "Make Racists and White Supremacists in Charge and Terrorize Colored People Again."

And now Trump supporters are SHOCKED that they're being arrested for their crimes.

They believed that white people committing crimes in defense of Trump were the "good guys" and the "Real Americans" and "the True Patriots" and that they were above the law, and now they're STUNNED as they realize America is not some sort of White Supremacist nation where white people can break the law with impunity.

If there’s one thing that Trump has made clear to his remaining staff, it’s that he’s sorry. Not sorry about arranging and inciting a violent assault on the nation. But sorry that he ever ever told the insurgents to leave the Capitol building.

Trump was ecstatic to see his supporters shoving through barriers, overwhelming an unprepared police force, and taking the Capitol by storm. As the insurrectionists prowled through the halls of Congress in hopes of turning legislators into hostages, and Trump supporters cast down the American flag to raise his own banner, Trump strolled around the White House in excitement. The fact that other people weren’t seeing this as a good thing completely baffled him. It was, after all, exactly what Trump had been wanting for years.

As The New York Times reports, after a stunned nation recoiled in disgust, and Joe Biden came out to demand that Trump end this rampage by his followers, Trump did take to Twitter to deliver a brief statement—one in which he told the insurrectionists they were “very special” and assured them “I love you.” Even so, Trump did include a statement that the violent criminals who were even then smearing human excrement along the halls of Congress should “go home in peace.”

It’s that last part that Trump regrets. The part where he told them to leave, and gave some hint that he would allow an orderly transition—though without naming Biden or including the word “peaceful.”

At the end of a week in which his followers attempted a violent overthrow of the American government, the only thing that Trump regrets is that it didn’t work. And that after planning it, bringing in every white supremacist he could find, and shoving them toward Congress, he didn’t do more to cheer for their victory.

Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan said Thursday that the Department of Defense “repeatedly denied” requests to authorize deployment of Maryland’s National Guard troops to help quell violence at the Capitol on Wednesday.

Federal authorities were not guarding the Capitol at the time of the attack, leaving the job to the Capitol Police, who were quickly overrun by the mob.

Donald Trump watched the Capitol Police getting overrun on television and cheered on the rioters. He told the rioters that they were "patriots" and that the loved them and that they were "special".

At least five people are now dead as a result of the violent thugs who attacked the U.S. Capitol.

Trump refused initial requests to send in the National Guard, with Vice President Mike Pence ultimately interfacing with Defense Department officials and giving the order to mobilize units.

In the wake of Trump's shameful behavior, Hogan, a Republican, has called for Trump’s removal.
