Trump-Hitler Has Gestapo Arrest US Senator

with all due respect, while I disagree with his removal and treatment (disgraceful), he was not 'arrested.'

when you make false claims, it lowers trust in your posts

yes, yes, I perfectly understand the meaning/s of the word (English was always my best subject), but in the context you used it has an explicit legal bearing.

If you'd have said his protest or active presence at the hearing had been arrested, you would have been utterly on point.

He was taken or detained into custody by authority of Trump's law. If I had done that to him it would not be an arrest.

This makes no sense.

Yes he was cuffed and removed and temporarily detained. He was not arrested or charged.

WTF is "authority of Trump's law"?
The definition of arrest has no criminal charge requirement. But you know that.

Police today are trained to de-escalate!...Maybe Ice needs some of this...Seems they were more than willing to prove they were in charge ala Officer Chauvin

even Padilla never claimed to have been arrested

In an interview on MSNBC, Padilla said that the polo shirt he was wearing at the news conference said “United States Senate” and that the FBI agents who were handling him “wouldn’t identify themselves.”

“I kept repeatedly asking them, ‘Why am I being detained?’

there IS a distinction, even if it goes against our gut understanding of the word. As soon as they slap on cuffs, that 'feels' like arrest. imho, cuffs shouldn't be permitted UNLESS it's an actual arrest. For the most part it seems totally unnecessary, just like the putting people down on their knees or on the ground when there appears no threat to officers or public.

my real point, here, is that the thread's title distracts from discussions of the wrongful actions that occurred and place focus, instead, on semantics.

I disagree.

gutless wonder johnson hid out in his office, door blocked by Capitol Police when the caucus came a'knockin' looking for answers about the Sen. Padilla incident.

Members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus came to Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) to speak about the incident with Sen. Alex Padilla (D-CA), where he was manhandled and handcuffed by the FBI for trying to ask Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem a question during her news conference.

Washington Post congressional reporter Marianna Sotomayor posted on X that Rep. Norma Torres (D-CA) relayed that Capitol Police were "blocking Speaker Johnson’s office door, preventing Congressional Hispanic Caucus lawmakers from trying to meet with him."

Just another example of an out of touch politician full of his own self entitlement. :)

If he were a Republican at a democrat presser, you'd be ok with it. :)
