Word is now leaking out that during negotiations to get a Republican version of healthcare in place, Trump had no idea and didn't care about the details of the plan. Word also is he essentially alienated everyone he came in contact with.

At one meeting Trump held with members of the "Tuesday Group," an informal caucus of moderate Republicans, the lawmakers went around the room and answered where they stood on the bill. When Pennsylvania's Charlie Dent said he was a "no," Trump replied, "Why am I even talking to you?"

The white supremacist Bannon apparently wasn't any better. "I don't give a shit what you guys think," Bannon exclaimed at a Thursday night meeting with the [Freedom Caucus] caucus, a source familiar with the meeting said. The sense in the room was Bannon lost his cool.

Two sources in the Freedom Caucus meeting in the White House Cabinet Room on Thursday confirmed that the President, when pressed about some of their policy concerns with the bill, said, "Forget about the little shit." Politico first reported the exchange.

"Some members wanted to talk about the policy aspect of the bill, and that wasn't something he wanted to talk about," said a Freedom Caucus member who was in the room. "He wanted to talk about the big picture."

Well it's OK

Neither did Hillary. The dem-o-craps are destroying this country and Hillary is letting it happen.

You need to let your false scapegoats go. You won the election; you're losing the country. That's on you and your choices, not Hillary Clinton.

Considering Republicans got exactly what they wanted with Obamneycare, not sure why they're whining. The Heritage Foundation was the one who suggested people be forced to buy insurance and be penalized if they didn't.

I can't attach the document, but page 51 of the Heritage Foundation document lays out:

Under this arrangement, all households would be required to protect themselves from major medical costs by purchasing health insurance or enrolling in a prepaid health plan. The degree of financial protection can be debated, but the principle of the mandatory family protection is central to a universal health care plan in America.
. . . . .
The requirement to obtain basic insurance would have to be enforced. The easiest way to monitor compliance might be for households to furnish proof of insurance when they file their tax returns. If a family were to cancel their insurance, the insurer would be required to notify the government. If the family did not enroll in another plan before the first insurance coverage lapsed and did not provide evidence of financial problems, a fine might be imposed.

The title of the document is A National Health System for America edited by Stuart M. Butler and Edmund F. Haislmaier. Go look it up. It's a wonderful read to see how Republicans got us to where we are now. Don't forget, Mitt Romney forced this on the citizens of Massachusetts so obviously if Republicans put forth the plan and one of them implemented it, it must be a good thing.

Those were the Republicans of last year. This year, Republicans are completely different.

Trump does not consider it his job,to provide a roadmap to accomplish any of the things he shouts about. He is a figurehead, rally point, and a mascot. An animatronic robot, or hologram would serve just as well. He is not expected to think. Trump is not in the White House for any other purpose, than to benefit his bank account and serve the interests of his own private empire. It is working out beautifully for Trump.

President Obama did the best that he could, with what he had to work with. The Republicans had a cushy job shouting from the gallery, picking up a pay check for creating a traffic jam, and shouting hateful slogans. Now, the Republicans are expected to get work done. I do not think they know how.

The hospitals are no longer floundering in debt, thanks to President Obama and ACA coverage. That was the point. Something had to be done, and a workable plan was put in place. As usual, the Republicans found a way to fuck it up. It did not matter to them, that they were hurting their own people. Ideology and A.L.E.C. chosen over everything. They held political office, and they would never have to suffer what they inflicted on others.

We cannot go back to having uninsured people filling the emergency rooms, and having the hospitals pick up the bill.

Hospitals are not floundering in debt. They have bad debt which is unpaid bills, but hospitals are not in debt. This report from 2013 indicates, based on self-reporting, only 5.9% of hospital debt went uncollected:

The reason for that is because most people have been forced to have high deductibles because insurance companies don't want to do what they're being paid to do. They've foisted tens of thousands of dollars worth of medical care on to the people before they'll take over. Since the vast majority of people, for one reason or another, don't have that kind of money lying around, that's where the bad debt comes from. Force insurance companies to do their job at a lower deductible rate and this bad debt will substantially decrease.

Also, it's not my responsibility to prop up any company by having my money forcibly taken from me. It wasn't right when Bush handed over $700 billion to Wall Street and the banks so they could pay out their bonuses, and it's not right to now have me pay for nothing in return.

I think if you plugged in "Obama" for "Trump" and "Jarrett" for "Bannon", you could've written this post 3 years ago.

Payment of bills and avoiding bad debts was what convinced Canadian doctors to go with a UHC system. Sending bill collectors will typically only get you a small percentage of what is owed. If any at all. Individual doctors up here still drive nice cars and live in fancy neighbourhoods. They still make good money. Hospitals are always making additions so they must have some extra income to expand with. System is still a bit pricey but far cheaper than the US model. And by international standards we are fairly healthy.

Bernie Sanders to sponsor single-payer health bill

Bernie does what Democrats should have been doing all these years!

Bernie Sanders is returning to a key campaign promise and will introduce a single-payer healthcare bill in the wake of the Republicans' Obamacare replacement defeat.

The Vermont senator said Sunday that he was willing to work with both Democrats and Republicans to provide "insurance for all," two days after the GOP leadership's American Health Care Act was pulled from the House floor to avoid a legislative defeat. Sanders' support for a single-payer system was a centerpiece of his unsuccessful run for the Democratic presidential nomination.

"Where we should be going is to join the rest of the industrialized world and guarantee healthcare to all people as a right," he said on CNN's "State of the Union."

Sanders' comments came a day after he told a crowd in Hardwick, Vermont, that Medicare-for-all is "a common sense proposal, and I think once the American people understand it, we can go forward with it,” according to Vermont Public Radio.

Health Care without the $30 billion tax cut for the wealthy? Might be hard to pass?

If you can afford enough nuclear bombs to kill the world 3X over, you can afford free healthcare for your citizens.

But who knew that health care could be so difficult?

Neither did Hillary. The dem-o-craps are destroying this country and Hillary is letting it happen.

Last I checked she lost the election and is usually sighted walking in the New York state hills. Obama just got back from an extended vacation (well deserved IMO). Hard to see them running secret cabals designed to bring down America from a beach chair or hiking trail.

Get over it! Billy's wife lost and there is a majority Republican Congress. Can't get anything done, don't blame the Democrats they're out of power. And the Judiciary is supposedly independent so don't go blaming it.

Put your big boy pants on and figure out a way to make things work.

Yeah, TANSTAAFL. Point still stands though. You can afford nukes and all the associated gadgetry and support organizations, you can afford a proper UHC system.
The US has nukes so Canada doesn't have to.

Maybe we can get other countries to pay for our health care. Hello, Mexico?

They want to create new missile silo sites. Billionaire heirs will be able to buy abandoned missile silo sites, at rock bottom prices, in the future. Government surplus for all social strata tiers.

We had nuclear capable weapon systems until 1984. Warheads were under Yank control. During any nuclear exchange between the US and USSR, Canada would have been in the middle. It was called 'incineration without representation'. Decreasing risk of strategic bombing and advances in air to air missile systems meant we could do away with nukes. Although Canada has pretty much stood beside the Yanks on nuclear strategy including 'first strike' option.

Canada is nuclear capable. We are the number 2 producer of uranium and heavy water. Give us a year or two and we can have nukes. Gives us 5 and we can have hundreds of them.

We just don't like them. Money better spent on citizen's health and stuff.

And both living under the U.S. umbrella with the United States paying for it and you looking down your nose constantly here on the United States.

Republicans had seven(7) years to write that bill s e v e n years - and came up empty.

Sez it all really.
