Since his inauguration, the world has watched the mental decline of Donald Trump. From his rambling rants about how he got more votes than Hillary Clinton (he received 2.8 million fewer votes) to how everything his own intelligence agencies tell him about Russia is completely fake, the decline has been staggering in both its breadth and depth.

Now comes the most shocking example of his failing grasp of reality. During his most recent press conference, where he told a Jewish reporter to sit down and stop talking when the reporter tried to ask Trump how he was going to deal with the rise of anti-semitism and threats to synagogues around the nation since his election, Trump asked this question:

“How do they write a story like that in the Wall Street Journal without asking me?”

That question was in response to several articles which said the intelligence community was withholding information from him because they feared Trump's loose lips might sink ships or reveal agency sources. In essence, Trump was asking why the press didn't clear with him first the articles in question.

Think about that for a moment. Trump believes the free and open press, guaranteed under the First Amendment, should come to him before they publish any stories about him. Does that sound like something a person who believes in an independent press would say?

From Trump's illegal emoluments to his disdain for facts, it is quite clear Trump lives in an alternate reality. The closest example I can come up with is the fictional character King Theodan who spat out whatever Saruman said he should say.

If this is the case, and every day more evidence points to this likelihood, one can only assume at some point in the future, Trump will be unable to discharge the duties of the office due to mental incapacity.

Senator McCain states the point nicely:

Article 4 of the 25th Amendment provides for the removal of a president should he be deemed to be incapacitated...

While I think this is unlikely to happen, the Trumpster's increasing inability to articulate a coherent thought, let alone execute the office of President, may indeed prompt his cabinet and VP Pence to do give their Fuhrer the heave-ho.

Dream on son but try not to soil the sheets in the process.
