Calls for the resignation of a North Carolina lawmaker, Democratic Rep. Julie von Haefen of Wake County, advocating the decapitation of President Donald Trump, escalated Saturday and into Sunday.

Rep. Julie von Haefen's social media post on Saturday, June 14, 2025, calling for the beheading of President Donald Trump drew criticism from colleagues in the North Carolina General Assembly. Her account on X no longer existed a day later.

On social media, von Haefen is accused of posting an image of a woman holding signage with the image of a bloody, used guillotine; the words “In these difficult times, some cuts may be necessary”; and a prop on one end of the handle representing a beheaded Trump.

Maybe it's just fake news. :)

Kathy Griffin eventually recovered after she did the same stunt. But a state representative could have a more difficult recovery, if ever. She may have stupided herself into a nametag job for much less money.

Yeah, it IS fake news (histrionics & gaslighting, really).

It was ONE photo singled out of a video of MANY photos from the rally - and the Trump connection (the use off a repurposed rubber Trump mask) in the image wasn’t readily apparent, as it seemed to be referring to Louis XVI & Marie Antoinette who were beheaded via guillotine.

And the State representative edited out the ONE "offensive" photo when it was brought to her attention.

The State representative owes no one an apology.

Other than the use of the repurposed rubber Trump mask, even the ONE "offensive" photo was quite appropriate for a “NO KINGS” rally.

Violence against anyone out of necessity is wrong.
