Trump and Kegsbreath to allow Qatar to establish a military air force base in the state of Idaho

The plan was initiated under the Biden administration.

The US is not giving Qatar an Air Force base. It is allowing Qatar to build a flight training facility.

The facility will not be under Sharia law. It is subject to US law.

Is that the same Qatar that gave the Grifter a Boeing jet, and gave Jared Kushner billions of dollars for his private equity grift, and gave Eric the Unwanted a deal to build a golf resort?

Say it ain't so.
Sorry to have to say but it is.
It’s also the same Qatar who gave Hamas a reputed $30m a month and a home base in Qatar.

Trump grew up watching World War 2 movies, which is his vision for the American military: giant aircraft carriers, Kirk Douglas and John Wayne, brave white men storming the beaches, etc etc etc.

Seen through that particular lens, manly men of the second world war see no value in those doohickey chip things, so might as well trade these particular beads for wampum.
(that was incredibly fucked up mixed metaphor above...sorry).
Most Americans are as brainwashed as trump is. They have bought into the same propaganda.

Not really. The Onion has higher journalist standards than AlterNet.
fair enough! then you must really think very little of the blaze, breitbart, fox, oann, and the other ones that dont even fact-check! good to know your ranking system though, thanks for sharing and being honest.

Yes, the outlets you mention all are openly right leaning. Whether it’s an overtly right wing or overly left wing source, you need factor the bias when evaluating a story. And even media sources that try frame themselves as impartial need to carefully scrutinized.

When has the current President ever had difficulty rejecting any deal from the previous administration?

Wow, agreed.
I just dont place any stock in outlets that present outright lies and esp if they are caught lying...and say, have to pay millions of dollars as punishment for those atrocities.
Id rather form my own opinions based upon as many facts and stats and such that I can gather without much bias.

The F35 fighter jet has an operational range of about 1250 miles... roughly the distance from Qatar's capital Doha to Israel's capital Tel Aviv......

....or, if you like, exactly the same distance (give or take a few miles) from the new Qatari AFB to BrightShinyGirl's suburban Los Angeles apartment.

Both distances are one way, though, and would require mid-air refueling to make a round trip.
As long as we're talking about the F-35A version the 630-mile flight from Mountain Home AFB to Los Angeles is well within its "combat radius," and only about half its ferry range. So in practice, an F-35 could make that trip, loiter, and return to Idaho without needing to refuel, unless the mission required extended time on station or afterburner use.

Recall that Paramount Global, CBS News 60 Minutes, ABC News, Twitter, Meta, Disney, have all been successfully sued by Donald Trump amounting to millions in payments, for lying to you about him.

What surprises me about this is the Qataris fund Hamas. And let's not forget that some of the 9/11 attackers were of Qatari origin apart from Saudi, if I recall correctly. Very surprising move.

And they are all permitted to broadcast in the UK unlike Fox which is banned for lying to the public.

Most of the cases were paid off to make them go away, or heard by fully-bribed Trump lick-spittle judges. Hardly resounding legal successes.

let's not forget that netanyahu was a major funder of hamas, historically, by funneling Qataris money into hamas' hands as it suited his political aspirations to keep Palestinian citizens divided and thereby weaker

Some things I look for in any news article, regardless of source:

- what are the reporter’s sources? Are they named? Credible?
- what relevant information might be missing? (Who, what, when, where, etc)
- Subjective or objective description (ex. “The program will be expensive” vs “The program will cost $X per year)
- Is the headline descriptive, objective and accurate? Headlines can be misleading, intentionally or unintentionally
- is the story verified or at least corroborated by other media sources?

Lets review:

-Twitter? Thats a right-wing site now. Everything on that site is either merely an opinion, only partly true and/or skewed to represent their base, or completely untrue and laughable. So everyone has an opinion on Twitter's info...either you are drinking the kool-aid or not. But its full of complete bs.
-Meta/Facebook? No fact-checking at all anymore so that is immaterial and any sane person would never consult that site for actual facts. ITs not a news site. Like Twitter. Anyone can post anything there now. Deep fakes, 100% lies, whatever.
-Disney is ABC News, and also it was not lying, a couple words that were misspoken and/or exaggerated etc. Trump sued ABC News in federal court in Florida after George Stephanopoulos incorrectly stated on-air that Trump had been found "liable for rape". In fact, a jury had found Trump liable for sexual abuse and defamation of writer E. Jean Carroll, not rape.
-60 Minutes and CBS news is Paramound Global...so once again you are just trying to add names to make a long list when its actually repetitive. Paramount settled the lawsuit for $16 million, which covered Trump's legal fees. The remaining money was designated for his future presidential library (thats a lot of picture books and Dr. Seuss!). As part of the agreement, Paramount also committed to releasing transcripts of interviews with presidential candidates after they air. The settlement did not include an apology from CBS or Paramount. The settlement was highly criticized by many journalists and press freedom advocates, who saw it as a chilling capitulation to political pressure. It led to the resignation of 60 Minutes Executive Producer Bill Owens, who said he felt he had lost his editorial independence.

So...the bulk of those are just Trump bullying the networks because they show less favorable sides of him than they did of Harris or Biden etc the networks simply paid off a minimal amount with no admission of guilt.

These weren’t “minimal payoffs” or trivial mistakes, ABC News and CBS/Paramount had to pay millions because they broadcast demonstrably false claims about Trump to millions of people. Misrepresenting legal outcomes and editing interviews to mislead isn’t a harmless error; it’s exactly the kind of misinformation that courts take seriously. Settling doesn’t erase the fact that even the biggest media outlets can be held accountable when they publish falsehoods, and dismissing it as “Trump bullying the networks” ignores the real lesson: truth matters, even to organizations that act like they’re above it.

The payments were bribes.

Which is why Paramount's lead also got a steal on tiktok.

George may have lied. He may have misspoken. He may have simply not known. But they resolved it.
The other case didnt amount to anytrhing, ie, covered his legal fees and no admission of guilt or apology. And 16 million vs 787 million is...well...worth noting.

but you are right in that, if they had blatantly lied...they should be held accountable.

Too bad they didnt have a history of lying for years and years huh?
