Trump’s Truth Social App Is Bombing So Hard That Top Executives Are Quitting

Truth Social is bombing.

The social media platform Donald Trump launched to compete with Twitter and Facebook has been such a disaster since its launch in February that two of its top executives have resigned, Reuters reported on Monday.

Josh Adams and Billy Boozer, the company’s chief of technology and chief of product development, are the two executives leaving the company after less than a year. Both were critical parts of the operation, according to eight sources who spoke with Reuters. “If Josh has left … all bets are off,” one of them said of Adams, calling him the “brains” behind the app’s technology.

Truth Social has been beset by issues since its launch. CEO Devin Nunes, the former congressman who left Washington to run the app, said that the platform would be fully operational in the United States by the end of March. This didn’t happen, though, as the app has been overrun with technical glitches, and prospective users continue to be stuck on a wait list to join. The special-purpose acquisition company (SPAC) that took Truth Social public has been under scrutiny from federal regulators, and last Thursday it missed a key filing deadline. Shares in the SPAC have been plummeting, according to Axios.

The Daily Beast reported on Monday on the app’s anemic performance. Truth Social is only the 28th most popular social network in Apple’s App Store, and it’s not currently available for download on Android phones, which, as Reuters points out, make up 40 percent of the U.S. smartphone market. The Daily Beast also points to data showing that the app has just over 500,000 active daily users. Twitter, by comparison, has over 215 million. It’s currently the 355th most popular app on Apple devices.

Trump hasn’t been pleased. “What the fuck is going on?” he was heard saying of the app’s failure, The Daily Beast reported last month.

It’s too bad, given the former president’s lofty ambitions for the app. “I created TRUTH Social … to stand up to the tyranny of Big Tech,” Trump said last October when the app was announced. “We live in a world where the Taliban has a huge presence on Twitter, yet your favorite American President has been silenced. This is unacceptable. I am excited to send out my first TRUTH on TRUTH Social very soon.”

Trump posted on the platform shortly after it launched in February. “Get ready!” he wrote. “Your favorite President will see you soon!”

Did he ever post anything to it? I seriously think he only enjoys posting when he triggers the left, so I would guess this network wouldn't be interesting

Like everything Trump has done in the last 30 or so years, it was a scheme to move money from the pockets of stupid people into the pockets of Trump and his pals, and that's all it was ever meant to be.

What a surprise (both that the platform is bombing and that the board Trumpettes aren't commenting. The board Trumpettes haven't had much to crow about recently, on the whole.)

The company buying Trump's social network Truth Social warned investors about his history of bankruptcy and failed business ventures

The company buying Donald Trump's social network Truth Social has warned investors about the former
president's history of bankruptcies and business failures.

In a regulatory filing Monday, Digital World Acquisition Corp highlighted the bankruptcies of Trump Taj Mahal,
Trump Plaza, and Trump Castle, and the failures of Trump University, Trump Vodka, and Trump Steaks, among others.

Digital World, a SPAC or "blank-check" firm, is seeking to merge with Trump Media and Technology Group (TMTG),
the owner of Truth Social. Trump himself would control between 47% and 58% of the merged company and would
serve as its chairman, Monday's filing shows.

Digital World said in its filing: "A number of companies that were associated with President Trump have filed for bankruptcy.
There can be no assurances that TMTG will not also become bankrupt."

It continued: "A number of companies that had license agreements with President Trump have failed. There can be
no assurances that TMTG will not also fail."

It added: "While all of the foregoing were in different businesses than TMTG, there can be no guarantee that TMTG's
performance will exceed the performance of those entities."

TMTG did not immediately respond when contacted by Insider for comment.

Monday's filing also showed that Trump has agreed to post on Truth Social six hours before making similar posts
on other platforms. However, it also stipulated that Trump can post from any platform at any time for "political messaging."

Trump launched Truth Social in February as an alternative to mainstream social media platforms, most notably Twitter.
Truth Social was plagued with technical difficulties upon launch and Trump was silent on the platform until late April.

Twitter permanently suspended Trump's account in January 2021 after he posted a video telling rioters at the
January 6 insurrection: "We love you; you're very special." However, Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who has proposed buying Twitter for $44 billion, has said he would reinstate Trump's account if the deal completes.

Trump, son removed from social media firm’s board weeks before federal subpoenas

Trump and his son were among six board members removed from the board of Trump’s social media company weeks before it was hit with federal subpoenas, according to state records.

Florida state business records showed Trump, Donald Trump Jr. and the four others were removed as board members of the Trump Media and Technology Group on June 8, based on a filing with the state’s Division of Corporations. Roughly three weeks later, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and a grand jury in Manhattan subpoenaed the company.

Was removed or removed himself ( left)?

The story was first reported by a sarasota paper, the herald-trib, (according to Forbes) with these words:

“Donald Trump removed himself from the board of his Sarasota-based social media company, records show, just weeks before the company was issued federal subpoenas by both the Securities and Exchange Commission and a grand jury in Manhattan.

Trump, the chairman of Trump Media and Technology Group, was one of six board members removed on June 8, state business records show.

Among the board members removed were Kashyap Patel, Trump's former point man in the White House; Scott Glabe, a former assistant to Trump who was counsel for the media company; and Donald Trump, Jr.”

Smart move to get away from that mess.

Remember… he rarely posted there.

Oh well, more time now for his rallies/appearances where the audience pays to attend. $55 for the peanut gallery to $3995 for the front row. The fleecing goes on.

Former President Donald Trump's Twitter knockoff Truth Social stiffed a contractor in the latest sign of financial "disarray" at the troubled social network, according to Fox Business.

Truth Social, which is headed by former Rep. Devin Nunes, R-Calif., is in a "bitter battle" with RightForge, the network's web host and one of its largest vendors, over $1.6 million in unpaid bills, according to the report.
